The figure is closer to 100,000 and the vast majority of these deaths resulted from al-Qaeda terrorist acts and Sunni versus Shia warfare. Using the 100,000 figure stretched over 10 years the annual death toll would be less than a typical year in the reign of Saddam. In addition to exterminating whole swaths of his own population Saddam's war with Iran killed an estimated 500,000 to a million people.

Ummm...that's wasn't a false premise. Huge stockpiles were definitively found, sampled, tagged, and otherwise conclusively documented. That they had existed is not in doubt for those who remember last week. The only question there is what happened to them.
