A growing number of U.S. military personnel have added their names as plaintiffs to the lawsuit against the Tokyo Electric Power Co., alleging the company hid the true risk of radiation exposure at the Fukushima nuclear power plant as they provided relief to the earthquake ravaged country.
The original lawsuit against the company was filed in December but now nearly 30 plaintiffs have been added and more than 100 are in the process of joining the lawsuit, claiming they have suffered severe medical ailments after assisting in the region.
The amended lawsuit was filed on March 12 in U.S. District Court in California, just a day after the second year anniversary of the earthquake and tsunami that claimed nearly 19,000 lives.

What bullshit. None of these people were exposed to anything remotely near NRC occupational limits that industrial metallurgists, nuclear medicine techs and interventional radiologists receive year in and year out. And they have no higher risk of cancer than the general public.
we have made suing an art form :)
The story says the maximum possible exposure any of those sailors got was the equivalent of a month of natural background radiation. That’s 20 or 30 millirads, depending on what part of the country you live in. The same as two or three chest X-rays. Also the same dose you’d get from the radioactive potassium in bananas if you ate about eight per day.
Notice also the crocky unverifiable complaints. Trouble concentrating, trouble sleeping, heavy periods, fleeting “lumps” that turn out to be nothing. Nobody is coming forward with real radiation exposure symptoms like cataracts or skin burns.
These people are liars, grifters and thieves. I don’t care if they are former servicemen. They are caught in the grip of lawsuit lottery fever. Their attorneys are greedy heaps of dung also.
Just for perspective, the NRC says it’s safe for me to receive 5000 millirads of radiation each year in the course of my work. That’s a couple of hundred times more than these scummy looters got.
Wouldn’t that be exposed one way or the other in a court of law?
We do not know what the maximum exposure was. The Navy destroyed the records of the one serviceman who did have the highest readings. He was tasked with pulling in the American Flag so that it could be given to the Japanese as a token of friendship.
Maybe our military should get back to being a military and killing terrorists instead of relief and peacekeeping missions. This is what happens when estrogen hijacks the workplace. Manhood is dead.
Puzzie.
The service folks would get a few bucks, at most, in any settlement. The person who makes out with all the cash is the lawyer who is wrangling the suit in the first place. That is the creature who is responsible for this nonsense lawsuit, not the servicemen.
