Want to hear a funny story?
A couple of years ago, there was a TEA Party rally at the gazebo on mainstreet here in Venice, and I dragged the family along to attend. The event was pretty dry, but I noted Jeremy hanging out in back of the crowd of what was probably about 200 people.
So I walked up to him, and when he turned to face me, I said, "Hello Jeremy". He was visibly surprised to have been recognized. I don't know where he figured that someone in the audience would not know his face, since it's always printed with his op-eds.
I pointed out the size of the crowd to him, and he agreed. Then I looked him straight in the eye and said simply, "Treat us kindly, Jeremy." Then I walked away.
He had a few pages of notes that I saw at that time. I looked in the SHT the next day for his article -- nothing. And it stayed nothing. He simply didn't report the event at all.
I guess that's kindness of a sort... $:-)
That's a good story of meeting him in Venice, and I'm really surprised he didn't use the event to bash the TEA Party. He is consistent, though, and is about as biased a reporter as there is. My wife knows Rita Ferrandino from the gym, and she and Jeremy are, I'm told, very good friends. Doesn't surprise me in the least. His treatment of K. Harris was just horrible, and I really dislike him. Would like to meet him though, if for no other reason than to tell him what I think of him....and to ask why he never responds to my emails. :^)
