the underlying premise of creating a "benefit corporation" is that traditional corporations and companies don't benefit the public. This notion, of course, is ludicrous.

Over time, however, it would not be surprising if B-corporations begin to seek favored tax statuses as well.

Similar legislation is being pushed in Oregon, Nevada. Liberals are pushing legal status for 'benefit corporations'. Why? Because libs will eventually push for laws where only benefit corporation can lobby or contribute to politicians. This is a liberal trojan horse that shouldn't be ignored.
