Three Years Ago, Today: Democrats Ram Through Obamacare
http://townhall.com ^ | march 21, 2013 | Guy Benson

Time flies when you're frantically moving goalposts and remaking one-sixth of the US economy, doesn't it? Three years ago today, the House of Representatives approved the Senate-passed healthcare bill, sending it to the president's desk to become the law of the land -- all without a single Republican vote in either house of Congress. In the lead up to that moment, were effectively peddled legislative perfection. Obamacare would reduce family premiums, bend the national health spending curve downward, insure 46 million Americans, cover everyone for no additional cost, and actually reduce national deficits. The law has since survived enduring public opposition and a razor-thin Supreme Court decision, even as each element of the promised panacea has begun to crumble. Rather than launch into another new omnibus post recapitulating all the flaws of the president's signature legislative accomplishment, I'll just encourage you to go back and read these pieces, dating back to 2010. The steady stream of bad Obamacare-related news has continued to flow this year -- ranging from projections of major premium spikes, to various unpleasant "surprises," to reports of utter logistical disarray, to attempts by Democrats to demagogue and unravel more elements of their own law, to revelations of its true long-term price tag. Keep in mind that most of the "Affordable" "Care" Act hasn't even been implemented yet, although it has already spawned more than 20,000 pages of regulations that with govern your life. As a very special Obamacare birthday present, here's a New York Times profile of a small business that's trying to grapple with the major hit they're about to endure:

Or one could say that 3 years ago, Republicans began their quest for ways to avoid defunding Obamacare.

All in how you look at it.

Our healtcare system has for a long time been BROKEN.

The system is distorted and inefficient, yes, mostly because of years of cumulative, damaging government interference. This negative interference is currently rising to a pathologic level. The system is not BROKEN yet, however. It still remains the best healthcare system the world has ever created. (At least for a while, anyway)

Obama is screwing up lots of things - but healthcare isn’t one of them.

While I defend your right to have an opinion of the subject, I feel you're demonstrating a low level of knowledge about the actual health care system and how Obamacare will further screw it up beyond all recognition.

well... if you like it so much...

just google: Liverpool Pathway Controversy....

And get some good reading like:

* Major review to be conducted by the Association for Palliative Medicine

* Inquiry will 'identify and explore concerns' over care for dying patients

* Growing fears that the system is a way of speeding up death of terminally ill

* System involves withdrawal of food and fluids as well as medical treatment

By Steve Doughty, Social Affairs Correspondent

and

A Doctor claimed recently that The NHS kills off 130,000 elderly patients every year Professor says doctors use ‘death pathway’ to euthenasia of the elderly, which on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours and is estimated that round 29 per cent of patients that die in hospital are on controversial ‘care pathway’ Pensioner admitted to hospital at the weekend can be given LCP treatment by doctors on weekend shift. NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds to save money, a senior consultant claimed yesterday. Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly and claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country when doctors believe it is impossible for a patient to recover and death is imminent. It can include withdrawal of treatment – including the provision of water and nourishment by tube – and on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours. There are around 450,000 deaths in Britain each year of people who are in hospital or under NHS care. Around 29 per cent – 130,000 – are of patients who were on the LCP. which still leaves 320,000 unaccounted for deaths while under NHS Care PUBLISHED: 16:58 EST, 24 October 2012 | UPDATED: 17:20 EST, 24 October 2012 Daily Mail

Obamacare = modern-day decree from Haman.

Obama is screwing up lots of things - but healthcare isn’t one of them.

I recently had an experience I was able to compare directly to treatment under the British NHS, an entity that Obama intends to remake our system into.

The British experience is a complete and total nightmare. There was no comparison between the level and quality of services available.

Screwed up? No, Obamacare has effectively NUKED the healthcare system in our nation. What we have today will not be available a year from now. Take it to the bank.

that’s a crazy ,misinformed statement from that poster.

Yes there were problems in healthcare before but that was becaue of all the government interference in it.

Obamacare is the worst thing to happen to America. already 50,000 pages of new government regulations for Obamacare set to come out. how will that help anything? it doesn’t it wrecks everything

socialism always leads to rationing , of food , healthcare anything

Obamacare is also a plan to make the insurance companies go out of business so then the’ll have to go to the government to get healthcare
