A Boeing spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the company will lay off 800 workers, as well as reduce its overall workforce by 2,000 or more in 2013.

According to a company spokesperson, the layoffs will be primarily of workers in the 787 and 747 post-assembly facilities, all machinists, in Everett. The additional 2,000 to 2,300 positions will be elimated through attrition and transfers.

No employees have been notified of layoffs yet.

While you did not direct that specifically at me, I plead guilty. I was wrong and you’re right.

Personally, I have difficulty in holding my powder when it comes to those I believe hate me and want to disrupt my life. That is not meant to be an excuse.... it just is - what it is.

2,000 job losses from Boeing will cost thousands more jobs in Snow and King county....actually, all over the area.

Anyway, you are right.

Time for the ol’ Board to go up again near I5 - “Last one out, please turn the lights out.”

ad. You think most are D’s?

Do D's even work? Oh that's right, they do if they belong to one of Zero's favorite unions. Boeing went around the RATS and their UNIONS and opened a manufacturing facility in a "RIGHT TO WORK STATE". These layoffs are in the union shop located in Everette, WA. Watch the screams coming from the union and the NLRB.

No worries. To be honest, I have piled on the misery of others as well. I don't want Liberalism to win, but it seems to be doing so. However, the plight of several people I know has reminded me of things I needed to be reminded of.

I am sure some of these families are Obamamites, but even if the parents are, what of their kids? When a family loses a job, it is a nightmare.

God told Abraham he would not destroy Sodom if there were 10 righteous. It may be a pretty safe bet that many of these families affected by these job losses are righteous people who fear God.

And you're right - the multiplying affect of this loss will be far felt in the area.

This is one of the reasons why the commie union thugs are pushing so hard for amnesty. They are going to need those illegal aliens as new members to replace all of the Americana that have been laid off.

Unlike many posters here, I refuse to dance on the graves of people that are losing their jobs. ... Shame is an appropriate word to use here.

SkyPilot, like your handle, can't agree with your sentiments. A kid has bad parents, he has no choce, you can feel sorry for him. He grows up, and suppose he joins a union to get a job, that is a choice. He loses his job because of his union, too bad, you can feel sorry for him but our old friend schadenfreude kicks in, what did you expect. Poor life choices is the progenitor of bad luck.

So no one is dancing on the grave of someone who lost their job, no, they are recognizing that actions have consequences. No shame is due them. Think these positions through and check for self-righteousness.

I have friends who just moved to Everett from Florida to take a job at Boeing. I don’t have the heart to ask if he is on the chopping block (I’m pretty sure that he is). One of the things that some who are quick to judge - or simply bash - is that in a non right~to~work state even conservatives sometimes need to take union jobs. In my buddy’s case I’m pretty sure that he was a Beck Objector.

I for one choose to blame Øbongo for this rather than kick these people when they’re down.

Update per King 5: A Boeing spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the company will lay off 800 workers, as well as reduce its overall workforce by 2,000 or more in 2013.

Update: According to a company spokesperson, the layoffs will be primarily of workers in the 787 and 747 post-assembly facilities, all machinists, in Everett.
The additional 2,000 to 2,300 positions will be elimated through attrition and transfers.

Boeing and the Machinists Union say the layoffs aren’t unexpected. The union added that while it’s never good to lose jobs, there is no reason to panic.
No employees have been notified of layoffs yet.
