EDINBURG — Deputies say a woman used a stove top to burn the hands of her 2-year-old boy who wouldn’t stop crying.
Claudia Ponce, 26, was formally charged with injury to a child at an arraignment Friday at the Hidalgo County Jail. She’s accused of burning the hands of her 2-year-old son, Osiel, claiming that the child burned himself while grabbing a pot of hot soup on the stove, a probable cause affidavit states.
Deputies responded to Ponce’s home near the intersection of Mile 11 North and Mile 4 West, north of Weslaco, and noticed the severity of the burns couldn’t have been an accident, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said.
The sheriff called the incident “by far the worst case of child abuse” he’s seen in his 41-year career.
“I can’t conceive how a mother could willingly cook the hands of her child by holding them over an open flame,” Treviño said at a news conference following the arraignment.
A photograph of the hand shows burns over the entire palm with large blisters and scabbing.
“The child’s hand was severely burned and had gotten infected,” Treviño said.
Deputies learned the boy was burned by holding his hands over an open flame for an extended period of time.
Authorities placed Ponce’s other five children — all under the age of 7 — in state custody. Osiel was transported to a local hospital and has been transferred to the Shriner’s Hospital Burn Center in Galveston. He was released from medical care Friday morning and transferred to a foster family that specializes in burn victims, Treviño said.
Ponce, a native of Valle Hermoso, Tamps., told investigators that she had entered the country illegally, had no family in the U.S. and worked as a prostitute, the sheriff said.

Mandatory spaying before deportation should be the law for this cruel cretin who has six children at age 26 and is a prostitute. The state of Texas should not be responsible for this mess and should send the whole bunch back to Mexico.

Only 26 years old and already six children. Well, I could see how she was looking to live our her life.
My mother dragged me over to the stove and made out she turned on the burners. She would then make me put my hands on the burners and hit my hands with the belt. The stove was off but I was too short to see over it. She did this after I dropped a boulder on the neighbor’s head. I had a problem with throwing rocks when I was 3 or 4 years old. She regrets it to this day but it did stop my rock throwing days.
The female prisoners will give her all the pain she deserves. They may be in for committing crimes, but most of them will not tolerate hurting babies.

I threw a rock once and hit a car. The man came looking for me but didn’t find me. He found my mom, she found me and a switch she pulled off a tree. I never threw another rock. Didn’t sit down for a week either.

A woman called in who worked as a nurse in the biggest Las Vegas Hospital. She said that the majority of births were illegals. They would give birth, and some didn’t even try to bond with the baby, no more than you would bond with a credit card. They didn’t want to be bothered with them in their rooms and by evening the room and halls would be full of every adult the woman knew. It was fiesta time!
She said the hospital had become a zoo.

That’s thousands of uneducated, America hating, socialist, poor, gang banging 18 years old who can vote democrat every year. In only 11 more years all those born in 2006 will vote. Then we hear about all the birthing Hotels set up for Chinese, etc. We’ve likely lost this country just by the perversion of the 14th amendment.
None of our esteemed GOP leaders, even Rubio and Paul have addressed that problem. A few in the House of reps have tried over the years but were ignored.
Maybe that’s what the legislators have figured out that we haven’t...that it’s already too late, might as well give them amnesty before they take it.
