Creating a marine preserve is only a mechanism, not a reason, however much they would like you and others to believe that - as in “marine preseves are a good thing, so why not make more?”
A self-justifying reason for their existance, but only as a way to convince others more are needed and so get more contibutions to make more momentum for still more preserves and more propaganda. So it has gone on for decades.
Just follow the money trail, if you can - complex, interwoven, and deliberately obscured as the money flows from one group to another and back again by a different route.
There was a woman I knew in the early 90s who edited a very small town paper. She did her homework very diligently, testified before Congress, wrote a book, but in the end had limiited success in convincing anyone she had uncovered the framework.
But that was then when times seemed desparate to some of us, now, however, more and more people are seeing just how truely bad the situation is becoming for everyone, not just a few here and there living in obscure towns around the nation.
