Prosecutors are seeking at least nine years in prison for an African man who was convicted of forcing children to work as slaves at his Ypsilanti home.
The government also is asking a judge to order Jean-Claude Toviave to pay two of the children $60,000 each. Four victims last fall told jurors that Toviave, a native of Togo, forced them to perform household duties for nearly five years until January 2011.
Toviave will be sentenced Monday in Detroit federal court.

No no no... they must be mistaken. This isn’t possible. We’re told every day that it’s literally impossible for blacks to be racist or slaveholders.

Outside the mideast I think most slavery tends to be within the races these days. Its easier to hide if slave and master look the same. Also its usually tied to immigration fraud.
It seems most common among Chinese and eastern Europeans.
This Togo native wasn’t a member of the Religion of Peace was he?
Come on now. It’s just a ‘family experiment.’ Some lawyers need a caning.
They should be paid us wages not a lousy 12K/year. I hope they can take the money back to their families in Togo tax free.
Not ironic in the least because while you don’t much hear about in public school, African leaders are the ones who sold their people to European slavers in the first place.
