Despite the gun debate raging in America; despite all the talk about how violent American movies are and how they’re turning our Call of Duty loving PS2 playing kids into gunslingers at the OK shopping mall, the Russians have asked former Hollywood action hero Steven Seagal to help them sell Russian made rifles to Americans.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin asked Seagal to lobby for abolishing restrictions on the sale of modern Russian rifles inside the United States, Ria Novosti newswire reported on Wednesday.

Russian success in this could go several directions: either competing in the high quality market, or the ease of use, low cost market, which was and is the big deal with the AK-47.
Personally, I think their best bet would to go modular and DIY, with a weapons system, not just a weapon. By this I mean designed so that it can use several configurations and different calibers, easy to maintain and repair, with a mid-range price.
This is “the gift that keeps on giving”, because owners could keep adding accessories, to have a gun that could be like several guns, at a total price much higher than a single high quality gun.
The bottom line is that this Russian model would be the “workhorse” gun for the next generation.
Love Saiga rifles. I have one in 7.62x39 and plenty of ammo (all purchased before the panic).
He’s looking a bit worse for wear. All that extra poundage likely detracts from the martial arts, but then he is getting up in age too.
