WHile the careful sensibilities of the AKC world can explain a difference, watch the video. Every witness on the beach would describe it as “the pitbull was running wild and attacking”.

To the people on the beach, (and the seal) the difference between the two is at best,,,academic.

If a dog injures or kills a deer-the woods are full of them here-the fine is in the thousands-and that is just for a commnon deer. If the dog chases someone’s livestock-also plenty of that here-the owner of the livestock can shoot the dog, and the owner still has to pay a fine. Dogs don’t need to run loose off anyone’s property or a leash.

My daughter purchased one of the aforementioned AKC American Pit Bullterriers as a puppy several years ago. Terriers in general are hyperactive dogs that like to chase/hunt animals. My dog is a Siberian Husky-Huskies like to chase/hunt animals. Not a good idea to walk either breed around wildlife.
