They hated me. I recorded everything, and refused to sign anything. Whenever they gave me something to sign, I took it and said I’d show it to my lawyer before signing. The first time I did that, they got the paper back from me and replaced it with a similar looking but slightly different version. They refused to show me the one they had tried to get me to sign. After that, I just kept everything and refused to give it back. They told me I wasn’t allowed to record them, but I did it anyway. I told them if they didn’t want to be recorded, they could leave (or let me leave if I was on their turf). They didn’t like me at all.
I think it’s been pretty well established that you are fully within your rights to record them.
Tell them that they are lying when they say you can’t record them, and that you have that lie on tape, and you’ll ask your attorney what action can be taken against them for telling you that.
