Conservatives lost far more than just the "gay marriage" debate - we lost the whole shebang, pretty much. How did we lose it? By allowing decades of Marxist brainwashing to occur in our public schools, coupled with 24x7 leftist TV, so that each little head full of pulp comes out of those indoctrination centers feeling warm and fuzzy about gay sex and "social justice".

I'd say a good 80% of people are complete sheep, meaning that they will support and believe anything that they perceive as the popular belief. Hollywood and the rest of the Left have been exquisitely successful in promoting various left-wing planks as being the dominant ideology in this country, so that 80% goes along with it like the good herd animals they are.

Honestly, the only card left to play for American conservatives is to burn it all down to the ground and start over.
