Bats, Hammers, More Used in Teen Brawl

Police in Reading, Pa. are investigating and sorting through surveillance video of a melee that involved as many as 100 teenagers armed with boards, bats, table legs, hammers and other weapons.

Sgt. John Solecki says detectives are looking at video from surveillance cameras and bystanders who posted footage of Wednesday's brawl on Facebook.

A phone tip alerted police to video of the melee.

The Reading Eagle reports the teens were fighting at basketball courts in a park when police responded around 4 p.m. Wednesday. At least one person, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital. Investigators say the large fight involved 75 to 100 teenagers.

Investigators say the teens scattered when police arrived, but the violence resumed minutes later.

"We're attempting to identify the actors involved in the fight as well as the actors that were holding weapons," Solecki told the paper. "We have pretty good surveillance video of those individuals."

It wasn't clear what started the brawl.

"It wasn't clear what started the brawl."

And I'm sure the police are baffled.

It started over an argument as to whom was the better composer, Beethoven or Tchaikovsky.

Actually was in Reading PA. Couldn’t have been too bad if only one kid ended up in the hospital.

Obviously, the Sharks went to the gym and claimed it wasn’t neutral territory. The Jets had to defend themselves.

What prideful idiots these “children” are.

Does there need to be a reason?

People just can’t settle down after Florida Gulf Coast beat Georgetown and busted everyone’s brackets. And Wichita State defeating Gonzaga is just too much to bear!

Its evolution in action, a recreation of Kubrick’s water hole scene from the ponderous “2001”, so leave them alone.

By at least 30. The clock strikes midnight tonight.

Just a question of whether the Gators can refrain from choking yet again in the Regional Final.

If FGCU beats the Gators we will know the Apocalypse is upon us. Cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria.

No, that's when the Cubs win the World Series.

Does anyone remember the Cinderella story of George Mason?

At least we aren’t playing Butler next.

Wait a minute, I'm confused. I thought gun control was supposed to reduce violence!
