Recently MSNBCs resident black guy Touré rendered his opinion of Dr. Ben Carson, referring to him as a token and Uncle Tom. Thats just the type of thinking weve come to know and expect from them.

That is a ridiculous generalization. There are black liberals that speak very highly of Dr Carson and have for a very long time, like Juan Williams for example. They may fiercely debate on the merit of ideas which is fair, while holding nothing but but deep respect for the man and his mission.
Who be racist?
I’m fairly new to FR, is there a page on here that has rules/instructions. I can’t seem to find it. Kind of what I’m looking for is what does “ping” mean?
It is just an alert to a member to look at a thread or post. In this case I was alerting the article’s author as he is a member here. Usually we do this as a courtesy to the author.
“Toure” is a living example of a “token”. I doubt he understands what a liberal plantation slave he is.
Many thanks, for the response!!! Must say I really enjoy this site.
You have to post something and use the phrase “ Am I logged in” to get the full benefits and features.
The "ping" comes from The Hunt for red October... as in "one ping only, Wasilly..." and is used to alert another FReeper to an article or post that they may find of interest.
There is a FReeper Lore thread somewhere that explains some of the other history and vocabulary of FreeRepublic.
Respect!?! Liberals? BAWHAHAHAHA! Have you ever been a liberal? Ever vote Democratic? I was a liberal for years till I wised up. Let me tell you something pal, liberals don’t respect anything!
The rules are right there when you are going to post something. “NO profanity..etc. Ping is where comments you’ve posted and comments posted to you are displayed. To see what has been posted to you look at the top of the page and in red type you’ll see ‘’new posts to you’’. That’s a ping. Click on it to see what someone has posted to you.
Stick around FRiend, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!
One thing that is not a "rule" per se, but I like to practice is to quote a portion of the post you are responding to so that other readers have some idea of what you are talking about.
Do you know any HTML? I normally italicize the quote then respond below. To do that type <i> before the quote then </i> after. To get a line feed, type <p>
Welcome to FR, BTW
It could be a generational thing — not wholly a matter of age, but people who come out of an earlier, more cautious print culture versus people whose thinking has been conditioned by the newer, hit-and-run media.
