Or such things as repealing the bill of rights.
Go for it! Restore the tenth amendment! Restore the limits on the federal government! Rein in the feds!!
In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote that if the federal government were to become self-destructive, it would be the right of the American people to alter it. In Article V of the Constitution our founders preserved that right by empowering the states, as those that originally established the federal government, to bypass and reform it by convening an Article V Convention, which permits the states to amend the Constitution.
Participants in the UCF Article V Convention Conference will decide whether to recommend this course of action to the state legislature after discussing the financial policies of our government. If the Article V Convention is recommended, a constitutional amendment will be proposed which would:
Implement major economic reforms, and optionally, empower the state governors and legislatures with the right to veto and enact federal legislation.
Go for broke!!
I don’t want the population who elected Obama to vote on a new constitution.
A much more effective approach will be to push our state representatives to enforce the one we have, especially the 10th Amendment.
If we cannot use what we have, which is clearly quite powerful, what makes anyone think our State legislatures will not strip the document and neuter such provisions leaving us with something more like the EU Constitution?
We either allow them to continue boiling us to death or we jump out of the pot and fight like hell for liberty!!
Rus- we need to look into this
An article V convention would also allow the states to abolish the federal government, but we would need three-quarters of states to approve it.
At present, Republicans control 25 states and rats control 11.
It’s a start, what we got going for us now is going down the dumper day by day, faster and faster and there ain’t nothing to stop it in Washington.
If Texas and Florida would join forces in this it would be a great start. This is where the Tea Party needs to go.
I heard talk of this regarding a balanced budget amendment at Cpac and it is intriguing. The key however will be doing this while we still retain control of most of the State ledglsators and governorship.
You know as well as I do that some of the delegates would propose, and maybe even pass, Amendments institutionalizing some of the rampant socialism that we are currently experiencing.
If you want a Con Con, make it a clean one. Have an amendment firing all members of the current Congress, as well as repealing the 16th and 17th Amendments and abolishing the Fed.
I question why the University is hosting this event. I would bet that 80% of the student body voted for Obama. This could turn out to be a very bad thing!
bttt
Will try to make it, if possible.
