No Jerry Libbin you idiot. You fight crime by taking CRIMINALS off the street! Idiot.

"Libbin pushed for the one-day event that netted 25 firearms in exchange for as much as a $300 Visa MasterCard gift card. He said its proof that trading cash for guns works to reduce violence."

Thanks for posting this so I didn't have to read the inane article to know that is was indeed a "buy back".

Someone with the IQ of more than a frog please tell me how 25 (probably worthless) guns traded for cash reduces violence? Please make the case, someone - anyone? In every which way I think about these idiotic buy-backs, I can't understand why the authorities think it does anything other than make them look like they're doing something.

We are truly governed by feel-good idiots.

Whoa! Stop right there! You can’t go arresting Democrat voters like that. How would people like Jerry Libbin ever get appointed/elected if they arrested their supporters?

My point wasn’t the misuse of the language, but the hype, as if the two dozen figure was some incredible amount.

Two dozen guns? My wife and I take more than that when we go to a CAS match.

Only a Gun Control Nazi cheers that 25 guns were seized at a gun buy back event.

You can find more guns in 5 minutes in a South Beach nightclub

"Anything we can do to take a weapon off the street is one less potential disaster," Commissioner Jerry Libbin said.

Anything? Going door to door would work a lot better, wouldn't it Jerry? Just think of all the "potential disasters" you could avoid!

24 guns...it was very nice of two or three Miami gangsters to see the error of their ways, to renounce violence, and turn in all of their weapons. This is a huge success.

I was just adding to the incongruity for "comic" effect - not criticizing. Why waste an opportunity to make fun of the Left?

Libbin pushed for the one-day event that netted 25 firearms ....

Well, that is "more than two dozen." Unless you're talking bakers' dozens. So this is quite an accomplishment, and it's going to make me re-think my entire position on the second amendment.

Well, “over two dozen” guns were turned in.

That’s what - less than 10% of you you can find on the dance floor at most South Beach Clubs on Friday or Saturday night?

It's why Rene Lopez said he gave up a revolver in exchange for a $75 gift card.

At today's prices? That is a joke!

Double or triple that and I will go to the local gun shop and buy up enough junk to pay for a new Glock or Beretta.

A feel good event for the police chief to get some PR against private ownership.

Every crook needs to upgrade his weapon now and then and these buybacks provide a good opportunity to sell the old gun and obtain a nice hunk of cash toward a newer one.

If those are kinds of guns they’re encountering on the streets, Miami must not have much of a problem with the dreaded , black , scary looking ‘assault rifles’.

It was a very nasty place in the early 70s, when I lived in Coral Gables. I can hardly imagine what a hellhole it’s like now. When the EBT Cards empty-out, I wouldn’t want to within 200 miles of that tribal war zone. LOL.

There was some place where 2nd Amendment supporters set up across the street from a gun buy back and offered good prices for the best guns.
