It sounds like one of the DemocRATS’ “stimulation” projects might have been over-stimulated.

No excuse for this tyoe of disaster. Somebody should lose their license....more likely a few should lose their license. Not a one man design job.

How do you "simulate" an earthquake?

Just wondering.

32 snapped when stress meant to simulate the lateral motion of a large earthquake was introduced, the Sacramento Bee reported

Obviously the stress test standards are much too rigid. We need to have the contractors involved investigate themselves and report back to the blue ribbon committee on bridge construction.
Be assured, this won’t ever happen again.

That means more years and more money into that project. It hasn’t been managed very well but typical for CA. And Jerry Brown wants to go ahead with the train that nobody wants to ride on, mandating that at least 10% of the labor be performed by unemployed homeless people.

Guessing the contractors tried to save some money and got some high-quality Asian steel for a lower price.

Had a mechanical dog like that once, every time I kicked him in the nuts, he made a bolt for the door....

And just how do you remove a 17 foot bolt out of it’s hole to replace it?? Go up - maybe 3 foot; go down maybe four foot.

So let’s just start over! Another “shovel ready” project for stimulus #6!

Probably that much vaunted Chinese steel.
My brother worked on a big ship project in which the very huge bolts were made from Chinese steel. The big one fused onto the project when they tried to apply it and it had to be totally scrapped and they had to start over from scratch. Private sector though, so they managed to keep on delivery schedule despite the Chinese interference.
