COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio will allow some undocumented immigrants with temporary legal status the right to get driver’s licenses.
The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced the policy change early Friday afternoon, and Jose Mendez, 20, who was born in Mexico, was one of the first to benefit.
He got his license at the Parma BMV office at 4:27 p.m. He went to the office after receiving word from the Department of Public Safety about the new policy.
The Cleveland resident said in January that a woman working at the office turned him away after telling him “you’re not even supposed to be in this country.”
The employee was not at the office on Friday, he said, and everyone treated him well.
The bureau directive should clear up statewide confusion at registrar offices. There were reports that some offices gave licenses to qualified immigrants, while workers at other offices, like the one in Parma, denied licenses.
Deputy registrars are now instructed to issue temporary licenses to qualified Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, after the applicant’s immigration status is confirmed through a federal data base.

With all of these illegal aliens now being given driver’s licenses, it’s time to repeal the Motor Voter Fraud Act. We don’t want any of the DemocRATS’ “sloppy” nonsense going on here. My vote is supposed to be “sacred”. I’d like to keep it that way.

By not enforcing some laws, they discourage good people from from observing all laws. If politicians get to pick and choose, why shouldn’t everyone else? This pernicious attitude promotes growing social disorder.

These people are NOT "undocumented immigrants." They are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Calling them undocumented immigrants is like calling shoplifting an "undocumented purchase."

More seriesly/seriously...how is it that the Obama Admin. can just make this "DACA" rule, and have it be "law of the land"??? No vote from Congress??
At least in Ohio, a temporary driving permit is significantly different from a regular driver's license. Here, the only people holding a "temp's permit" such as the "deferred action" illegals are getting are normally 15/16-year-olds...and under the circumstances, it's a good solution to the "edict", I think, since legal citizens holding temp's permits are usually not old enough to vote, and the "undocumented" will NOT be able to use the temp's for voting ID presumably...
As a bonus, there is no "discriminatory" pink stripe...and since this quasi-legal DACA status is by definition "temporary", then an identifiably temporary driving permit is probably the best solution until this Executive Order can be overturned/reversed in court. Meantime, it will save the State a lot of money in defending liberal group lawsuits.
Not that this helps the underlying problem of how all these illegals got here in the first place.
