Honestly, I don't think the Chinese want 20 million refugees crossing the Yalu River. This is ugly, considering the Chinese cut off oil exports to NK last week. I pray this administration understands the value of Face.

Buried down at the bottom of Bill Gertz’s (a national defense reporter with connections) story, are several paragraphs talking about practice evacuations in NK’s NORTHERN cities, while across the boarder the PLA and PLAF are mobilizing.

Those items with China cutting back on NK oil, and other goods, seems to me that China told Un if he does something, there will be mil consequences. Un, meanwhile, full of himself and his family's legend, will lose face, if he does nothing but bluster.

China knows UN may have painted himself into a corner and is simply getting ready. China's mil lacks any external combat experience in recent decades - none since the border war with Russia - and this might be as good a time as any to get some - plus trying out new mil toys in real combat - against NK.
