A contingent of liberal Democrats in Congress is proposing a new federal gun control idea: mandatory liability insurance for gun owners.

When New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney introduced the legislation last month with eight other Democrats, she boasted that it is “the first bill to require liability insurance of gun buyers nationwide.”

Well, there isn’t any gun liability insurance to purchase that I know of.

A $10K fine for not purchasing a policy that doesn’t exist.

We need federal legislation to criminalize attempts at federal gun control legislation. Something along the lines of:

“Attempts to regulate or infringe the right of the people to bear arms constitute a criminal offense against the United States. Representatives or senators attempting to introduce legislation that will infringe, control, regulate, or otherwise hamper the ability of citizens to bear arms are guilty of a capital felony, and the mandatory sentence shall be death. This includes adding such legislation as amendments, riders, clauses, or any other attempt that can be construed to mean infringing the right to bear arms. Presidents, executive officials, federal employees, law enforcement, or military personnel enacting regulations or executive orders that are equal to or tantamount to legislation for the purpose of infringing the right to bear arms are subject to the same penalty.”

This would have many benefits that I can see. Lautenberg, McCarthy, Feinstein, and their ilk going to the electric chair, for example.

Yep, and of course they exempt the military, police, and government employees. I think we need a law that whatever gun laws apply to civilians in any locality also apply to the military, police, and all government employees.

And an amendment to the state constitution that no government employee is eligible for any government-funded bodyguard, police are barred from moonlighting as bodyguards, and no law enforcement agency may offer preferential protection to any politician or government official.

See what happens when politicians have to live under the laws they create for their own personal protection.

It could always be included as a rider in Obamacare which will, of course, be administered by the IRS. Everything evil is being put together by the Progressive/Statists.

Like North Korea, they will probably back themselves into a corner by trying to back up their wishful thinking with actions.

Look for more folks to hide their guns.

Why? So you can get them out when the gun grabbers have gone away after realizing that they were wrong? </sarc>

They are hellbent on triggering (no pun intended) the rebellion. Only a liberal would start a war with people they KNOW are armed when they are not armed themselves.

I’m sure the dumbass Democrats will then have no problem with requiring career criminals to take out liability insurance for all the havoc they wreak on innocent victims???

They can’t go after the Second Amendment directly, so they try and go around it.

And some people get onto us for vehemently opposing any encroachment on our rights.

Perhaps they should be more focused on upping their own life insurance. People WILL reach their breaking point, if they keep pushing.

You have listed part of the disaster that is the America of tomorrow: i.e. the media. Additional features being the increasing Third World demographics(actually a conquest); egalitarianism, political. economic and social are other elements of America’s decline.

This is like a new "Poll Tax". Before the civil rights era, the Democrats and the KKK (same thing) imposed a tax in order to vote. You had to pay money to exercise your constitutional right to vote. This excluded the poor and minorities.

Move forward 50 years. The Democrats are requiring people to pay money (buy insurance) in order to exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms. This will exclude the poor and minorities.

The Democrats haven't changed much in all these years.

How about a $10,000 fine for anybody on welfare?

How about fining illegal immigrants with children in our FREE public schools - $1000 a kid, or more. Take that child credit money from the IRS and give it to the local public schools (pit liberals against liberals).

The SCOTUS has ruled that firearms ownership is a constitutionally protected right.

Requiring the purchase of insurance to exercise that right is the equivalent of a poll tax.

Maloney’s son and husband were shot by Collin Ferguson on an LIRR commuter train. She’s used that to leverage herself into political power, and has been determined to disarm us all, so nobody could protect themselves against other Collin Fergusons.
