I truly can’t tell if it’s legit nutjobbery or April Fools. My gut tells me it’s what the author actually believes cloaked in the “just kidding” caveat of April 1st.

I agree. It seems to me that what the author of this piece perceives is a growing propensity for individuals who have been or probably would be diagnosed somewhere along the Autism spectrum to commit violent, deadly crimes. I would not be surprised to find that white males suffer from autism at a higher rate than members of many other groups. This is a reasonable public health and safety concern.

But the author shows no sign of viewing this as public health matter. Rather, his intent is to promote a series of anti-freedom legislative proposals and engage in some standard faculty lounge Mau-Mauing to deflect attention from the far more serious public safety issues related to underclass violence. In other words, a cheap demagogic debating trick.

The depths to which the quality of debate in this country has declined since the dreadful Sixties is almost beyond comprehension. Our society may be beyond help, I fear.

The article screws up their statistics by noting it is 70% white males, while white males are only 30% of the country. But that is because mass murder is primarily a male thing.

It would be like arguing that white males are overrepresented in the NBA, by noting that about 20% of the centers are white males over 6’ 10” tall, even though only 2% of the population are white males over 6’ 10” tall (I made up all of those statistics).
