AN ex-lover of child-killing monster Mick Philpott yesterday revealed he tried to murder her in a frenzied knife attack — but spent just three years and two months in prison.

Kim Hill, 51, told of her ordeal as jobless benefits scrounger Philpott, wife Mairead, 32, and friend Paul Mosley were found guilty of killing six of his sleeping children in an arson blaze in Derby.

‘You’re not allowed to defend yourself,’

Oh, not this crap again.

‘and the criminals don’t get punished.’

They do, we could do with heavier sentences though.

He got seven years, which is the average here for attempted murder. Usually 6-10 yrs.

‘But the court heard Philpott had a criminal record and tried to murder a previous girlfriend.

He was jailed for seven years in 1978 after repeatedly stabbing her and given a concurrent five-year sentence for stabbing her mother, causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

In 1991 he received a two-year conditional discharge for assault occasioning actual bodily harm after he head-butted a colleague.

Then in 2010 he was given a police caution after slapping Mairead and dragging her outside by her hair.

When Philpott set fire to his house in Victory Road, Derby, he was facing trial over a road rage incident in which he punched a motorist in the face.

He had admitted common assault in relation to the incident but denied dangerous driving.’
