For 300 Years Poland-Lithuania was the most powerful country on Earth. (I think because they supported us Jews and thus were blessed by HaShem, Genesis 12:3)

While Germany Torn itself apart, England was racked with Civil Wars and France, Spain, and Italy were at war with each other all the time.

Poland wisely stayed out of the Thirty Years War, but the Poles did their share of fighting with the Russians, Swedes and Turks.
