President Obama will return 5 percent of his salary to the Treasury Department, a senior White House official tells ABC News, a sign of solidarity with the federal workers who face furloughs due to the sequester cuts.
“The president has decided that to share in the sacrifice being made by public servants across the federal government that are affected by the sequester, he will contribute a portion of his salary back to the Treasury,” a White House aide said.

$20,000 is nothing compared to just one vacation that sopped up taxpayer money.
I am shocked that he is doing this. Hagel did this too. Except for JFK no other politician has done this. I hope this continues. It is a good step.

Why doesn’t he offer to pay a federal income tax rate of 50% and decline to use any tax loopholes (take deductions)?
I recently saw a statistic showing that Obozo has already spent $1.4 billion just on vacations alone. Since he is living totally on the public dime (plus), how would a return of a measly 5% compare to the total cost to the American taxpayer? This is a meaningless amount, but will lead to huge political gain. Those too stupid to realize what Obozo is doing will rave about him, and those who criticize him will further increase Obozo’s popularity among the illiterate.
