The Abortion Expansion Bill

Send a message to Governor Cuomo and your legislators today. Just go HERE.

Memorandum of Opposition

Re: The Abortion Expansion Bill
“In relation to revising existing provisions of law regarding abortions”

The above-referenced legislation may come before you as a stand-alone bill (such as S.438, Stewart-Cousins) or may be re-packaged into a multi-point “women’s agenda” as advocated by Governor Andrew Cuomo in his 2013 State of the State message. We strongly urge you to oppose this abortion expansion plan, in whatever form it may take. It is unnecessary, extreme and dangerous. For the reasons outlined below, the New York State Catholic Conference strongly opposes this legislation and urges that it be defeated.

This legislation this bill does not simply “update” New York law or codify Roe vs. Wade. It would usher in extreme and sweeping changes to abortion policy in New York State.

The abortion expansion bill is uncompromising in its terms and extremely sweeping in scope. The bill goes against the increasingly pro-life sentiment in this country, as evidenced by the most recent Marist poll (December 2012) which found that more than 8 in 10 Americans favor significant restrictions on abortion. The Gallup Organization (May 2011) found that only 27% of Americans believe abortion should be legal under all circumstances. The majority of American adults (61%) believe abortion should either be more strictly limited than current law or not permitted at all.

Not only does the bill defy public opinion, but it also defies common sense. New York State remains the abortion capital of the nation with the highest abortion rate of any state. New York City’s abortion rate remains at 40%, with some geographic regions within the city at 60%. The reality is that no woman is without ample opportunity for an abortion in New York State. Rather than voting on a bill that will increase the tragedy of abortion, we urge policy makers to look at constructive ways to reduce abortion and truly make abortion “rare.”

We strongly urge you to oppose the abortion expansion bill.

I am against abortion, but just think for a minute.

How many Obama voters would there be if the blacks ,low info whites,Trash, and liberal were not getting abortion.

If abortion continues liberals may one day cease to exist.

Just a bit facetious, but it has it;s point.

Conservatives show their true morality when they fight to save the pre-born future Democrat voters.

You do realize that allowing non-medically trained personnel to perform abortions you will have two major outcomes:

(1) non physicians will drive the price of the practice below that sufficient to keep even the most mentally ill or debased physician involved, and

(2) with abortion being such a common pactice these days, the death rate should zoom outta' sight.

With no physicians around to do the job, and with women dying left and right ~ particularly in New York City there should be a substantial drop in the number of abortions.

NOTE: Roe v. Wade did not require the use of medically trained abortionists ~ root workers were good enough in the opinion of the Justices.

If this law is enacted, Cardinal Dolan must arrange the formal ex communication of Cuomo and any Catholic legislator who voted for it. If he fails to do so, he will be negligent in his duties and all will suffer.

Many of these items listed existed in Kansas under Geo. Tiller, while many elected officials pretended they weren't or merely looked the other way.

One politician celebrated Geo. Tiller and proceeded to hold a huge birthday bash for him in the Governor's mansion, Cedar Crest.

That politician, none other than Kathleen Sebelius!

Of course, that was no big deal for a Governor mom who also allowed her college age son run an Internet porno site, also out of the same Governor's mansion!

Imagine Governor Sarah Palin doing that.

I am not in favor of abortion, although being human, who knows what I would have chosen if I was very young and had no money or a willing father to the baby....I am not going to judge....

but isn't it odd how abortion is pushed?...how its been made so available to the most insecure fragile groups?....

to kill a baby at 24 weeks or beyond?.....I can tell you I had regular conversations with my unborn children from early on in my pregnancy....they were REAL !!!

Disarm the law-abiding, encourage them to kill their children!

NY is the least free state unless you want to kill a baby.

“..non-medically trained personnel to perform abortions ..”

This is not very healthy for women. Obviously, Cuomo cares about more abortions, NOT women.

A group of us will be attending the vigil. Odd timing - 5pm. Downtown Albany has narrow streets with limited parking. Traffic will be horrific as workers are headed home. Normally, protests are held inside the State Capitol during work hours as to garner attention of state senators and legislators. If the media is not covering the Gosnell trial, I doubt this will get much coverage, if any.

Glad a group of you will be attending the Vigil, NYer.

I called NYers for Life & they said there is parking under the Capitol. Maybe they figure state employees will be gone before 5. They also mentioned the parking meters.

Maybe dining at a restaurant in the area with parking, and calling the restaurant ahead of time and asking if we can park there during the Vigil, if we dine at their restaurant, is another option. Of course, we’ll have to skip lunch. :)

I also sent an email to one of the tv stations in the area to ask them to cover it. We’ll see.
