4 gay NFL players could come out on the same day, Brendon Ayanbadejo says
SB Nation ^ | 4/5/13 | Andrew Sharp

Posted on 04/05/2013 8:34:12 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo was released by Baltimore this offseason, and on the heels of comments earlier this week where he suggested that he was cut in part because of his outspoken stance on gay rights and equality issues, Ayanbadejo clarified himself to the Baltimore Sun on Friday. During an hour-long interview he made it clear that he harbors no resentment for the Ravens, and respects them for the support they offered him throughout his career both on and off the field. But that's not all.

...Ayanbadejo had this to say:

"I think it will happen sooner than you think," Ayanbadejo said. "We're in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. There are up to four players being talked to right now and they're trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out."

They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

If they can play nobody will care.

That may be true in the PC world, but reality is a bitch. Let's see what the players' reactions are on the field and in the locker room showers. Or how the fans will react if the player is on the opposing team. Is the NFL going to ban anti-gay rhetoric?

I see the same kind of mentality that dictates women in combat and gays openly serving in the military. There will be reactions no matter how much those in charge try to eliminate it.

Lombardi will turn over in his grave.

There is a classic NFL Films clip of Lombardi on the sidelines of a game yelling at his players. "I don't see any tackling going on, just a lot of grabbing....grab, grab, grab."

I'd love to see that clip interspersed with comments about gay players in the NFL.

it would be a dark day for the NFL, athletics in general. There is no place in the locker room for a gay - player or correspondent.

Really?? Why?

First...taunting another player is a penalty
Second...excessive end zone celebration is a penalty
Third...lowering your head while carrying the ball is a penalty.

The NFL rules are already gay.
Openly gay players would cross the line that would make the game unwatchable.

In all seriousness that’s Columbia Blue, I deal with collegiate accounts all the time. Can’t say whether it’s actually a Columbia uniform or not, but it’d be hilarious in context of the GIF if it was.

First I quit baseball over the first strike... and I was correct... then I quit basketball because of the thugs... and I was correct... and then I gave up the NFL and it looks like I am going to be correct and I gave up NASCAR and I think that is also going to be proved to be the correct move. Everything that progressives touch... withers and dies.

I'm down to NHRA (drag racing), College baseball (when LSU has a good team) and unfortunately have to agree with you about NASCAR (slipping fast now).

The NFL is losing audience at a fast pace

Really?

'The NFL for the second straight year is "seeing a slight drop in the number of people who are tuning into its games," according to Matthew Futterman of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. Excluding the first-ever 13-telecast Thursday night package on NFL Network, games are "averaging about 17.4 million viewers per game, down 2% from last year and 3% from 2010." This decline is "far smaller than the precipitous drop the television business has experienced overall." NFL games "account for 24 of the 25 most-watched television shows since Labor Day." NFL audiences also are "a healthy 18% larger than they were in 2008."' - http://m.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2012/12/14/Media/NFL-TV.aspx

Let's see what the players' reactions are on the field and in the locker room showers.

Yes, let's, especially if a gay player seals a playoff win with an interception or a 30-yard run with under two minutes left.

That may be true in the PC world, but reality is a bitch.

Reality is that for most fans, GMs and owners, winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.
