SANFORD - Trayvon Martin's parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed.
Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today.

I hope they never collect a dime. These scummy scam artists - along with the Crumpettes and the media - should be paying Mr. Zimmerman for damages they caused him.

I don’t see how the homeowner’s association could be liable for this. But our screwed up legal system allows a shakedown to avoid legal fees.
It will all be gone in months, if not weeks.

um... what the heck did the HOA have to do with anything?

The lawyer should be shot, then drawn and quartered and his intestines strung out over the court house steps.
It may well be that due to the immunity laws the settlement amount is zero dollars and they are doing this agreement stunt to IMPLY something for a bigger agenda.
IOW the law firm is setting this up for an intimidation tool.
I doubt very much it exceeded anything significant.
It is like the hot coffee case, the 2 million dollar verdict made news but the subsequent overturning on appeal/settlement for 200k which went to the lawyers is never reported.

As usual with today’s so-called “reporting” one has to read between the lines. Nowhere is the settlement amount actually disclosed. The reporter wants you to believe, as well as the lawyer, that the settlement is for a million... or maybe more; but it could be $10k. This is all legal theater.
On the good side, the $1M will be worth a couple of weekends, with lots of drugs, partying, alcolol, and phat-ass sex...then it will be gone! Time for a new shakedown victim.

Don’t get this at all. The amount seems a bit excessive for a make it go away settlement, even with the race card seasoning. Were the insurance companies using MSM manufactured “evidence?”
Of course I remember the OJ trial and later civil suit, but still when it all comes out the wash, GZ will own some insurance companies.

Possibly by tacitly allowing Zimmerman to operate on their behalf and on their grounds as a “watch captain” they could be liable for a “wrongful death” if that’s what is decided. Sleazy lawyers find ways to sue everyone and since the Homeowners assoc probably has insurance its worth it to them to make this go away.
See! Now isn’t it a lot easier to just scam the system than trying to hit the Powerball? Cheaper too!
I wonder who will get the largest cut. “Mom”, “Pop” or their shyster lawyer.
