This has been in the works for years. It will continue. Japan is quietly, but persistently pushing to downsize the US Forces footprint here.

They are no longer required. A Pacific Marine force in Guam and Hawaii should be adequate.

The last tanks were withdrawn from Europe this week. the threat has dissipated.

This was put on hold for a couple of years but I don't see why the move to Guam is a good idea. Guam isn't a transportation hub for planes or ships but a terminus. Except for emergencies, planes or ships only go near the island is because it's their final destination. Supply was a nightmare. Corrosion is murder on equipment.
