Those who are irritated with his Bible-Thumping phrase obviously did not ‘get’ it. He was absolutely correct in his statement. You cannot fight the gay marriage with the Bible. You must use reason in a court of law.
Quite right. In fact, attempts to use the Bible as the rationale for opposition alienates more people than it convinces. It is counter-productive.
Same with religiously based arguments for any other policy.
I happen to think this attitude on the part of so many Americans is idiotic, but not as idiotic as continuing to alienate them by promoting what they see as theocracy.
Any Christian that can not say God or Jesus Christ on TV is neither a Christian or Consevative.
