Young people voted for Obama in overwhelming numbers, but the question is why?
As I explain in this interview for Blaze TV, they are being hurt by his policies.
It’s not just that youth unemployment is high. Obama’s policies also are hurting those who found jobs. Simply stated, these “lucky” folks are getting below-average pay.

Some of you may think I’m clutching at straws because I don’t like Obama, but perhaps you’ll believe the man who formerly served as the Chairman of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers.
Here’s some of what Austin Goolsbee wrote several years ago for the New York Times.
…starting at the bottom is a recipe for being underpaid for a long time to come. Graduates’ first jobs have an inordinate impact on their career path and their “future income stream,” as economists refer to a person’s earnings over a lifetime. The importance of that first job for future success also means that graduates remain highly dependent on the random fluctuations of the economy, which can play a crucial role in the quality of jobs available when they get out of school.
Goolsbee cites some research based on the career paths of Stanford MBAs.
Consider the evidence uncovered by Paul Oyer, a Stanford Business School economist… He found that the performance of the stock market in the two years the students were in business school played a major role in whether they took an investment banking job upon graduating and, because such jobs pay extremely well, upon the average salary of the class. That is no surprise. The startling thing about the data was his finding that the relative income differences among classes remained, even as much as 20 years later.
He also reports on what other scholars found for regular college students.
Dr. Oyer’s findings hold for more than just high-end M.B.A. students on Wall Street. They are also true for college students. A recent study, by the economists Philip Oreopoulos, Till Von Wachter and Andrew Heisz…finds that the setback in earnings for college students who graduate in a recession stays with them for the next 10 years. These data confirm that people essentially cannot close the wage gap by working their way up the company hierarchy. While they may work their way up, the people who started above them do, too. They don’t catch up.
Now think about today’s young people. They’re buried in debt, thanks to government programs that have caused a third-party payer crisis. Yet they are having a hard time finding jobs because Obama’s policies are stunting the economy’s performance.
And even if they do find a job, the research suggests they will get paid less. Not just today, but for the foreseeable future.
Yet they gush over Obama. Go figure.
P.S. Goolsbee’s recent columns have been less impressive, perhaps because he feels the need to defend Obama.
P.P.S. I’m not suggesting that young people should have gushed over McCain or Romney. Just that they should view almost all politicians with disdain.
P.P.P.S. I also say in the interview that the government should get out of the housing business – both on the spending side of the budget and the revenue side of the budget. And it goes without saying that I also explain the need to reduce the burden of government spending.

Add in progressive control of 95% of the media and major internet portals and you have the full picture.

There is a sector in the GOP selling out America.
Actively. Still. Now.
That is what is preventing a GOP turnaround. People vote for the politicians who support THEM.
Who the heck is voting for Chinese employees? Nobody.
Yet the GOP is firmly, irrevocably sold to exactly that sector of the market.
Selling itself out more every year.

Any citizen who visits the DC area will quickly understand. All the guys have 1000 dollar suits and the girls 400 dollar dresses, shoes, and handbags.
All both brands really care about is preserving that culture.

I agree to the extent that FReepers are for freedom and democracy.
But face it. FReepers have bought the internationalization of business quite well.
The thing is, Democrats have also bought the internationalization of business well. Everyone is for the internationalization of businesses.
Except for American voters.
American voters want American jobs back.
Both of my parents were “Kennedy Democrats” in a region of NC near the Blue Ridge, where allegiances started to shift to the historical Republicanism of the mountain people, so it wasn’t always an easy thing to be.
They remained proudly Democrat through the turmoil of the sixties and into the seventies, but cracks began to show in my dad’s Democrat beliefs with McGovern. He hated him, couldn’t believe he’d actually been nominated. Didn’t like Nixon much better but voted for him. Mom stayed Democrat, still is in fact.
My dad was disturbed by Watergate, felt somewhat responsible, and was glad to have what then appeared to be a down-to-earth, God-fearing southerner to vote for and did. Carter was a disaster, he would freely admit by two years into Carter’s only term.
Reagan, he responded to immediately, campaigned for him, donated money, the whole nine yards. He was Republican from then on until he passed away in 2008. He’d begun to doubt George W. Bush, though. Thought he was doing some stupid things that were damaging the country.
Then why are you still hanging around here? You think shouting the same thing at them day and night, ad infinitum, is going to change their views?

Every Freeper agrees with that. We also agree that US manufacturing should come home.
I suggest you expound on the solutions that would achieve that goal -- perhaps in a detailed essay posted on yours, or another's blog. Send that essay to members of Congress, their staffs, and Republican party members in the lower ranks.
Incessantly pounding your fellow Freeps over the head with slogans does nothing but irritate.
As the father of two comparatively conservative twenty somethings and the stepfather of three liberal thirty somethings, I have the following observations:
1. Our children have been raised to believe that life should be fair. They have also generally been raised to believe that government is the primary instrument of change. Realizing that life is not fair, they then turn to government and the Democrats as the primary party of government to rectify perceived unfairness.
2. Many of our children have attended high schools, universities and colleges which are dramatically biased in favor of progressivism. In such an environment it is the rare student who will be willing and able to stand almost alone against the prevailing orthodoxy. At those institutions they have not been well-served. When I went to college, De Toqueville and the Federalist Papers were required reading. These days students are more likely to encounter Howard Zinn than Madison and Hamilton.
3. Many young people are low information voters. Just after the election, I overheard a conversation between and older man and a young man who is a student at a very selective university. It was clear that the young man was proud of his vote for Obama. It was also clear that he had not even heard of Benghazi.
4. As painful as it will be for many on this forum to hear this, the stance of the Republican Party on social issues is a problem for many young people. I cannot tell you the number of times I have heard from my children and one of my stepchildren and many of their friends that they are conservative on fiscal issues and “liberal” on social issues and choose to vote based on social issues.
5. In that regard, they make that choice in part because they have grown up in the most affluent, consumer based society the world has ever known and we - their parents - have insulated them from the need to make hard economic choices. Sadly for them and us, the good times will not be as easy to come by in the future. International competition and domestic policies that suppress the private economy at home mean that fewer and fewer of our children will be able to prosper as we have. It will be interesting to see how they react. Will they be able to see that government is a big part of the problem? Will they be willing to renounce their devotion to the environmental movement, public employee unions, and labor and tax “fairness” to get our economy moving again?
6. They are inexperienced. They have not seen how corrupt, self-serving, incompetent, and destructive government can be.
7. The need to feel accepted. It was just not cool to oppose Obama on most campuses during the last two national elections.
No experience in *REAL Life* out of the *nest*.
In my generation when you made 18 it was time to get after it on your own, it was a matter of self pride.
We now have a bunch who are totally content, with no shame, to act like children into their 30's or longer and still depend on mommy and daddy along with mommy and daddy state.
Obama is mommy and daddy state.
They don't *get after it* because they don't have to and believe good things should automatically fall into their laps without any effort on their part.
Obama's BS plays well to these lazy, whining, basically useless fools.

Most of this younger generation is done.
Some of this generation may “wake up” but then it will be too late to do anything about what they voted for when they were younger. They will continue to be drones and useful idiots for the government.
The left knows that they have lost in the U.S. demographics numbers due to their abortion stance and homosexual life.
Which is the primary reason that the Leftists want them and know that illegal immigrants will continue to increase their numbers, overwhelm, overtake and ensure that the Left have a voting control the society.
My mom has been a "Kennedy Democrat" for most of my life. Before my time, she was an FDR kid.
Dad, on the other hand, only came around to siding with the Dems after he remarried in the late sixties. He was raised in a Republican household and voted straight R until his second wife convinced him of the rightness of liberalism.
Despite a long and admirable career in the US Army, he nonetheless changed sides, and has never come back. We can't even talk about current events today. About the only good quality he still has, is his patriotism. He's one of them strange, flag waving Democrats.
You ain't seen nothin' yet. When the "invisible hand" is withdrawn...

Young Black, Hispanic, and Asian Americans support Obama, at roughly the same percentage their parents support him.
Young white voters, 18-29 years old, supported Romney, and even young white women gave him a 1% majority.
White college age voters, 18-22 years old, are a little more Left, but I don't know the exact percentage.
So, what's the problem, then?
The racial proportions change from older to younger.
Old folks are about 80% white.
Young folks are about 60% white.
That accounts for almost ALL the difference in voting patterns.
If the racial proportion in 2012 was the same as 1980, Mitt Romney would be president.
TOTAL CULTURE ROT. It is not all the Socialist Government’s fault - it is a COMPLETE breakdown of the culture - there is no moral compass. Whatever “FEELS” good has to be good and needs to be attained.
