More than two years after Scott Walkers showdown with organized labor in Wisconsin, the official numbers for the states public sector union membership are in and they are down. Way down.
According a Labor Department filing made last week, membership at Wisconsins American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 40 one of AFSCMEs four branches in the state has gone from the 31,730 it reported in 2011, to 29,777 in 2012, to just 20,488 now. Thats a drop of more than 11,000 about a third in just two years. The council represents city and county employees outside of Milwaukee County and child care workers across Wisconsin.
Labor Department filings also show that Wisconsins AFSCME Council 48, which represents city and county workers in Milwaukee County, went from 9,043 members in 2011, to 6,046 in 2012, to just 3,498 now.

They can’t decline fast enough for me.
People are wising up.
scott walker showing everyone how to *do* conservatism. scott walker for president!
You know what I would find fascinating? A survey of all those Wisconsin militant leftist protestors who were also Union members and find out how many of them remain - voluntarily - in the Union they publicly professed such undying love for.
I wonder if they will suggest the dues paying members wear arm bands to show their solidarity?
More evidence that the only way the Left maintains its support is by force. When people are allowed to freely choose, they don’t want it.
A lot of those “Wisconsin” militant protestors were from Chicago.
The pattern is also being followed in Michigan, although the gap between right-to-work being enacted, and the date it became effective allowed too many unions to enact multi-year contracts that allows them to escape the effects for a long while.
By the way, what happened to the Great Chicago School shut down? It has dropped off the news radar.
Don't doubt it. But now those Chicago militants will be stretched thinner, having to help out more in WI and MI.
I’m looking forward to it happening in Michigan as contracts run out.
When are the recertification elections scheduled?
I wouldn’t count on the long contract extensions to save the unions. It was actually only a handful of school districts and colleges and there are already lawsuits pending from within and without.
In Michigan about 40% of union members surveyed supported RTW. In fact the union conservatives were among the main push for RTW.

Scott Walker is the Thatcher of Wisconsin.
“Without those union dues being forcibly subtracted from their paychecks in advance, public sector employees are feeling a little bump in pay, eh?”
Yes, and I am betting that now that they’ve seen that “their world” hasn’t come to an end, more will leave and take the pay raise. My other guess is that a lot of “union” members were there by way of threat and intimidation, and only needed the government to level the playing field for them to leave. There is going to be a bump in “unemployment of union goons” in the coming months. Oh what will FUBO do when his goons are out of work and out of money?
