Annette Funicello, the 1950s and '60s-era Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer who went on to star in a variety of beach movies with Frankie Avalon, has died from complications related to multiple sclerosis. She was 70.
Disney confirmed the death on Twitter on Monday, and then released the following statement:
Actress Annette Funicello, long-time Disney and Beach Party star, passed away on Monday April 8 at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, CA, at the age of 70. She died peacefully from complications due to Multiple Sclerosis, a disease she battled for over 25 years. Annete was the first love of my life, my mom never could figure out why I was watching Mickey Mouse Club.
I’ve been busy all morning and hadn’t heard. Thanks for posting.
RIP Annette and God bless. Her suffering is over.
I grew up watching Annette and I thank her for the modest and moral way she portrayed herself on screen. Her suffering is over.
Go ahead, post it again to make it a gazillion. is there a reward for posting and posting and posting, or is it just an ego boost for you unstoppable posters?
She comes from an era when Disney promoted women as role models instead of hookers.
Now, two of my all-time favorite faces are dead . . . Debra Walley, b. 1941 - d. 2001 (could you get any prettier?) . . . and now Annette (just plain pretty)
awww... love Annette... i grew up watching repeats of the Mickey Mouse Club... most of my siblings watched the originals... as the waaaay youngest of seven children, i was exposed to alot of the 1950s and 1960s pop culture...

I miss REAL women like those two!
The fake silicone trash of today makes me want to take a shower.
Too late, science is zeroing in on the cause and treatment of MS, with indications that iron is somehow strongly involved.
An Italian doctor had some success with his theory that MS, at least some varieties of it, was caused by the insufficient drainage of iron from the base of the brain. So he installed some shunts of the type used for hydrocephaly, and had considerable success with some patients.
However, in other patients, there is a shortage of iron in their body and brain, which is helped somewhat by supplements. So research continues.
