Rep. Stockman: ‘The best way to honor Baroness Thatcher is to crush liberalism’

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman says the best way to honor the legacy former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is to “crush liberalism.”

“What are you doing this morning to defeat liberal politicians?” Stockman asked at the end of a statement released Monday morning by his office.

Thatcher, who died of a stroke Monday at age 87, was a conservative stalwart, fervent anti-communist and a close ally of President Ronald Reagan.

“While many mourn, Baroness Thatcher reminded us ‘I fight on I fight to win,’” Stockman said in statement. “The best way to honor Baroness Thatcher is to crush liberalism and sweep it into the dustbin of history.”

Recalling Thatcher’s history a “one of the greatest champions of human freedom,” Stockman compared Thatcher’s tenure to that of President Barack Obama.

“Like Barack Obama, Baroness Thatcher inherited a country that was demoralized, economically broken and bankrupted by expansive government. Unlike Obama, Baroness Thatcher restored prosperity and optimism,’ Stockman said. “Where Obama has failed, Baroness Thatcher succeeded. While Obama forges chains of dependency and government bloat, Baroness Thatcher took a sledgehammer to the machinery of liberalism.”

“Baroness Thatcher’s record of creating explosive economic growth and a stronger nation by embracing conservative values makes the utter failure of Obama’s stale liberalism starker and more disturbing,” Stockman, who made headlines in recent months for threatening to impeach President Obama over his executive orders on gun control, added.

The Texas Republican went on to assert that Thatcher created prosperity by rejecting liberalism and championing “the power of human freedom.”

“She is still hated by leftists who would rather live in equalized misery than allow people to achieve as much as they can work for, leftists who now hold the levers of government in the United States and hurl personal invectives because they cannot deny she left her countrymen stronger and more prosperous,” he said.

I snipped off the self-serving tripe from the Kenyan Boy Child (why Caroline put that in this otherwise excellent piece, I do not know).

I like the way Stockman thinks!

Wish Rep. Stockman was my Congressman.

I guess I’ll just have to settle for being his friend. ;)

Let us defeat liberalism, as President Reagan, PM Thatcher and Pope John Paul II did communism, by speaking truth, boldly.

As was said and cannot reiterate more than ... what has been said. The time is upon all of us. This time we must not fail. To fail is to be defeated. To Victory!

Stockman is right. The man deserves fairweather conservative Cornyn’s senate seat.

And you forgot the third member of the trio that destroyed International Communism:

You are most certainly correct. And although he is not always popular on FR, Zbigniew Brzezinski also helped behind the scenes. His family had fled the communist takeover of Poland when he was around 12 or so; therefore he was eager to help, and phoned the Pope directly to see how he could help soon after John Paul II was elevated, speaking Polish to the Pope's personal aid; whereupon he was put through to the Holy Father. Brzezinski had been National Security Advisor to Carter; and many on FR don't know that he continued to work on eastern European and other international relations commissions for Presidents Reagan and GHW Bush.
