Baroness Thatcher to receive ceremonial but not state funeral

Baroness Thatcher will receive a ceremonial funeral with full military honours at St Paul’s Cathedral, it has been announced.

The funeral will have official status, similar to that accorded to the funeral of the Queen Mother, but it will not be a full state funeral in line with her own wishes and those of her family.

Lady Thatcher will not lie in state and there will be no military fly-past.

Full details of the ceremony will be announced in coming days but Downing Street said a “wide and diverse range of people and groups with connections to Lady Thatcher” would be invited.

The statement added: “The service will be followed by a private cremation. All the arrangements being put in place are in line with wishes of Lady Thatcher's family.”

On the day of the funeral, Lady Thatcher’s coffin will begin its journey from the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in the Palace of Westminster, the place she dominated for more than a decade.

Reagan's death produced not so much an outpouring of grief -- after all he was 93 -- but respect and love. There were spontaneous demonstrations everywhere his body went on its trip from California to DC and back to the library in Simi Valley.

So far we've had an anti-Thatcher riot and anti-Thatcher drinking bouts. The organized Left is trying to get its members to dial down their joy for the moment.

What I'm waiting to see is whether Thatcher's funeral produces the same kind of popular reaction that Reagan's did.

Lady Thatcher was a great woman, but she was no Churchill.

She took her own party and was forced out and who does that remind you of? Yes Sarah.

Even Churchill got dumped until he was desperately needed again. Ordinary people hate the truly brilliant people among them -- worse than they despise the stupid; the stupid are easier to use (see Party, Democrat).

The masses even called for Jesus to be crucified.

Time for the silent majority in Britain to be not so silent, to show the world these morons are indeed a minority.

the unions hate it when Churchill and Maggie clamped down on their thuggery and corruption.

Look at what they did to Sarah, even when she pops up they attack her, they do not give her one minute of silence

Great article. Thanks for the link. Here's an excerpt:

Lord Howard of Lympne, the former Tory leader, accepted that Lady Thatcher was had been a divisive figure. However, he insisted that she could not possibly “have done what needed to be done by consensus”.

“There was a need for bold decisions,” he said, adding that her dramatic economic reforms, including curbing the power of the trades unions and privatising utilities, had “saved our country”.

Condolences, manc. I imagine you wish you could be standing on the Strand later this week when the remains pass by.

I will puke my guts up if zero’s there.

He is no more likely to show up for that than to have another breakfast with Ben Carson. He doesn't often know when he's outclassed, but this time he's completely eclipsed.

I do.
I always remember growing up and the miners were acting up and I asked my foster mother at that time why can’t he work.

I was told he was on strike and he has no money so he has to take boxes of handouts from communist Russia.

I thought back then why , just go to work and support your family.

Since then I heard many give their hatred to her but since I joined the military most of us were for her.

Here’s a story from the SAS.
She went to their camp and with her husband wanted to see them train.
She asked to go to the room where the SAS come in shooting live rounds and rescue the hostage.

SHe and her husband Dennis were told to stand in the corner and they will be alright.

Bangs went off, shooting happened and her husband dropped to the floor afraid.
She turned to him and said “Oh Dennis get up you’re embarrassing me”

She was a no nonsense, stand your ground woman , a woman which the west badly needs today and the few commies and unions can enjoy her death but to me all they’re doing is showing themselves up and most fo them partying did not even live back then under her.

Why isn't there a place for her in Westminster Abbey?

On hearing that she would be cremated, my heart sank. It would be dreadful if her ashes were divided between her daughter in UK and her son in South Africa. I hope both of them arrange for a final resting place within England and see to it that on their deaths, her cremains will be buried at a later date, with a suitable marker.

I think her contribution to Western Civilization will be on a close par with Reagan and Churchill.

Will be?

Psst: Sarah Palin took herself out when she didn’t serve her full term as Governor of Alaska..

You are underinformed. She was hounded from office by hundreds of mischievous, costly, time-consuming and evil-intentioned lawsuits placed by well-funded leftist activists that effectively prevented her from doing anything but prepare for endless trials, all of which eventually resulted in her being cleared of all charges. She did it to make their game stop. Look it up before spouting the leftist talking points here.

May I remind you that at the same time the liberal media COMPLETELY IGNORED all the SCREAMING INCONSISTENCIES in His Majesty Lord High Obama's background, the left sent hundreds of reporters and lawyers to Alaska to pore over every fiber of Ms Palin's being, and then go over the same ground again and again, looking for dirt they never could find. A has-been muckraker even moved into the house next door to spy on her and her family. Her church was set on fire, with all the fires located at the exits when a group of women were meeting inside. The evil done to her was Satanic.

Yet you gibe.

I wished The Mail had finished the sentence:

“The Woman Who Saved Britain . . . From Socialism.”

Weird how they’ll acknowledge she saved the UK, but won’t really get to the nut of what she saved it from.

These liberal pukes have no clue.

I watched much of the Reagan events. I don’t recall if this was a national or local broadcast (we’re in Baltimore), but there was a black reporter down in PG Co or around there waiting for the motorcade coming from Andrews. This was a Section 8 sort of complex next to the roadway. Lots of black people and the children were milling around waiting to see the procession. No signs, no screaming epithets, no protests. When the hearse came, all the kids ran down the hill to get as close as possible to the road.

This idiot reporter was obviously flabbergasted that these people would just peaceably hang around and excitedly run without protest to see a man who obviously, you know, was at odds with everything these people could possibly want. He was agape when the motorcade came and kids started running and waving. Jerk.

I researched Denis Thatcher’s burial place from his death 10 years ago. His Wikipedia page says “His ashes were buried under a white marble marker just outside the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.” Isn’t that the veteran’s hospital where she has directed all contributions in her memory to go? One hopes her cremains will be placed there with him.
