Mark Kelly Shoots Glock 9mm With 'High Capacity' Magazine on CNN

In an interview that will air on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 on April 9, Gabby Giffords looks on from her mother's porch while Mark Kelly shoots bottles and clay pots in the Arizona desert with a Glock 19 9mm. The gun is actually Giffords's, but Kelly shoots it and wasn't shy about admitting he had a 17-round magazine in it.

Ironically, 17 rounds exceeds the 10 round limit that was being pushed in the Senate in February when Kelly spoke in favor of banning them.

Nevertheless, after CNN filmed Kelly target shooting, he justified using a 17-round magazine for the simple reason that it wasn't a 33-round magazine, which is what the shooter used who attacked Giffords with a Glock 19 9mm in January 2011.

Giffords and Kelly sat down with CNN interviewer Dana Bash after the target shooting was over, and Bash asked Kelly if he had stopped to think about how "incredulous" people might be seeing him continue to get "his kicks [by] shooting a gun?" To this Kelly simply said, "Gabby used to like shooting a gun too, occasionally."

Hey officer doofus.

Would you be so charitable if the dog had mauled a child?

This is a marine sanctuary and they violated the law.

The brazen hypocrisy of the We’re Above Those Little People Laws reminds me of the scene in 1984 in which inner-party member O’Brien turns off the spying telescreen in his luxury flat before proceeding to tell Winston Smith about the supposed conspiracy against Big Brother.

‘You can turn it off!’ [Winston] said.

‘Yes,’ said O’Brien, ‘we can turn it off. We have that privilege.’

What makes that exchange of value a relevant one...?

One word: Graft. The fastest and surest way to become a millionaire is to get elected to Congress, where insider trading is 100% legal. You can propose a law that will kill a company, short the heck out of the stock before you introduce the bill, and clean up. They do it all the time.

Laguna Beach didn’t want to appear to be bullying the husband of a meat puppet.

In a way, I agree, but . . . when they set up their organization "Americans for Responsible Solutions" it was plain to me they were doing this to set up some nice six-figure administrative positions for themselves and milk her tragedy for all it was worth. The good part of this is that it siphons money away from the Brady Bunch, et al, who must be fuming behind the scenes over the new competition for money.

Amazing how these selfless idealists always mange to pull down a spectacular paycheck for their efforts. They never do it for free. Giffords and her Astro'Naught are the next generation, elbowing the Bradys aside in the scrum for gun-grabbing dollars

I saw this on CNN and it was amazing. Imagine a family, including Grandma, sitting on the back porch while Paw blasts Ma's flowerpots in the dirt with a Glock to cheers of approval.

You'd think it was classic TV footage of a redneck family, prime fodder for use as proof that rednecks should not have Glocks.

But no, it's Mark and Gabby out leading up the yard. If you didn't see it, the CNN commentators afterward were aghast that they would still shoot for recreation, after Gabby got shot. Why would they still touch yucky guns, while they are supposed to be demonizing them?

According to Mark, it's so folks will see that they are real gun owners, with real respect for gun rights (as they simultaneously try to take them away).
