So you have all these years of Arlen Specter, and you think that he and this new guy are interchangeable? That nothing was gained in defeating Specter?
Sorry, I do not want offend or insult you. I wanted Specter out, I was furious at Cornyn for supporting him. I like Toomey. Maybe something was gained from 2011 and 2012, but overall, I can only include nothing of substance was gained.
Until today, I would have thought differently, but now I can only conclude they aren't interchangeable. Specter was better.
Toomey gave up to the Democrats only the only issue still viable for Republicans, and the only issue it's publicly acceptable to disagree with Democrats. If he can't even stand up to Democrats on that issue, what good is he? There is nothing left. That's the whole ball of wax. And Toomey is now to the left of Dianne Feinstein.
The thing is, Specter was bad. But at least on a few issues he would strongly stand up to Democrats. He would even do it on things that would make him unpopular with that side of the aisle. Toomey just came out as not even being able to stick up to Democrats on the one issue he could. I am shocked, but I have to give an honest opinion: this makes Toomey 100% worthless. And that's before the fact that Toomey made himself Se. Schumer's secret backroom lackey.
It's not pleasant to think about, but facts are facts. As conservatives, it would be hypocritical of us not to be honest about facts. If Toomey can't even stand with conservatives on the one issue we still have, he's move on in a major way.
