People who really are decadent aren’t really liberal, if you think about it. Liberals (old school, pre-WWI) used to have “morals” and stuff.
Like President George Bush the elder. He was a disastrous tax-hiker and hyper-regulator (disabilities act). But he always had class and integrity.
