California Considers Mandated Insurance for “Gay Infertility”
Cybercast News Service ^ | April 11, 2013 | Ben Shapiro

For decades, members of the left have insisted that the right is fighting a war on science. But when it comes to the issues of abortion and homosexuality, it is the left that fights a consistent and ridiculous war with reality.

This week, Wesley Smith of the Weekly Standard reported that California would be considering AB 460, a bill that would mandate group insurance coverage for so-called gay and lesbian “infertility.” What in the world does that bizarre phrase mean? It doesn't mean situations in which two members of a lesbian couple are both infertile and incapable of conception using some third party’s sperm. It doesn’t mean situations in which two gay men are both infertile and incapable of impregnating a surrogate mother. It means situations in which gay or lesbian couples can’t make a baby by having sex with each other. In other words, every single gay and lesbian couple on the planet.

The way the law works, gay and lesbian couples would simply have to testify that they have been having sex for a year without producing a child to be considered “infertile,” which is idiotic, since baby-making requires necessary components missing in homosexual activity. But nature is irrelevant here. Even though both men and women were, to borrow Lady Gaga’s phrase, “born this way,” political correctness trumps nature. …

I have no problem with this, as long as the only insurance benefit is a simple instruction booklet on the biology of reproduction.

From the text of AB-460, "“Treatment for infertility” means procedures consistent with established medical practices in the treatment of infertility by licensed physicians and surgeons, including, but not limited to, diagnosis, diagnostic tests, medication, surgery, and gamete intrafallopian transfer. “In vitro fertilization” means the laboratory medical procedures involving the actual in vitro fertilization process. "

Health insurance companies will be required to cover all possible ways in which two people of the same sex can in any manner use some scientific procedure to trick the human genome into producing a child that they can then destroy mentally and spiritually.

Instead of depending on interpretations of what it says, let's just go to the bill itself.

Essentially it adds this whole clause, in two spots, to existing law:

(g) Coverage for the treatment of infertility shall be offered and provided without discrimination on the basis of age, ancestry, color, disability, domestic partner status, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.

Besides being immoral it is ridiculous. Same sex couples are “infertile” by choice and behavior. That is why I suggested the instruction booklet.

Step 1 - Find someone of the OPPOSITE sex.
Step 2 - Marry that person.
Step 3 - Engage in intercourse.
Step 4 - Wait 40 weeks.

That's not the section cited in the article.
(b) For purposes of this section, “infertility” means either (1) the presence of a demonstrated condition recognized by a licensed physician and surgeon as a cause of infertility, or (2) the inability to conceive a pregnancy or to carry a pregnancy to a live birth after a year or more of regular sexual relations without contraception.
So no, the definition of infertility here (the condition) has nothing to do with artificial fertilization/implantation, therefore this becomes a treatment for a nonexistent condition.

Homosexual infertility? That certainly would be 100%.Anyone with an IQ over 40 knows that anything other than three “X” chromosomes and one “Y” equals *no baby*.

Hopefully it’s not limited by cardinality. A threesome should have a legal right to produce offspring with 69 chromosomes.

I'm going to walk out on the front lawn on a regular basis, flap my arms and attempt to fly. After a year of no success, I'm going to demand tax payer funded assistance for my inability to take flight. A limo ride to the airport and a chartered private jet on call as necessary would be a satisfactory solution.

The inmates are not only running the asylum, they are taxing the sane to pay for it.

I’d vote for this if it meant one of the men had to get a penectomy. For the women, I’m not so sure :/

Dear California:

Re: Gay Infertility

Please note, that, when two members of the same sex have sex, they are unable to reproduce.

Regards,

American Fertility Asociation
