Pat Buchanan: Who Is Winning the Gun War?
Townhall ^ | April 12, 2013 | Patrick J. Buchanan

Posted on 04/11/2013 11:51:38 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Attacks from abroad -- Pearl Harbor, 9/11 -- have united us.

Yet domestic atrocities lately seem only to deepen our divisions.

The bombing of the Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City was seized upon to savage government critics like Rush Limbaugh.

After the murder of six innocents, including a 9-year-old girl, and the wounding of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and a dozen others in Tucson, Ariz., by a certifiable lunatic, Sarah Palin was charged with moral complicity.

The slaughter of 20 first-graders at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., put the National Rifle Association in the media cross hairs. With the massacres at Columbine, Virginia Tech and Ft. Hood, Tucson and Newtown are now the primary exhibits in the prosecution case for the disarming of America.

Are the gun controllers winning? They have surely made gains.

Maryland, New York, Connecticut and Colorado have outlawed high-capacity magazines used in semiautomatic rifles and pistols. All four have outlawed all versions of the AR-15 rifle used in Newtown. All have imposed background checks on all gun purchasers.

Maryland has gone further. According to The Washington Post, Maryland's law "would force gun buyers to provide fingerprints and undergo classroom training, target practice and background checks to obtain a license to buy a firearm. No state had sought to impose a licensing requirement in nearly 20 years."

To make licensing and fingerprinting a condition of buying a gun seems a prima facie violation of the Second Amendment.

At the federal level, the going has been tougher for the gun controllers. Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania have introduced a bill to require background checks on all gun purchases on the Internet and at gun shows.....

Unfortunately it is an emotional problem without an actual solution but those in the know (liberals) always think that it just takes another law or so...

Matters not whether current laws are enforced or prosecuted, just pass another to appease the public at large.

Problem occur when the “public at large” disagrees with their continuing clamp down on the public at large instead of the criminals - a by product of liberal thinking.

This is called Government control and is a classic part of Socialism,Marxism,Communism. Not something that they can admit publicly. To these folks, control is everything - even what amount of sugary drinks you can consume.

The media doesn't cover the 2.5 million home invasions per year in the USA and the 300,000 rapes of unarmed women in the U.S,A.These are real events that are actually likely to happen to an American. but the news media massively covers a single event the newtown ( or whatever it is) mass shooting. these mass shootings are so rare that they are statistically non=existent . but the news media makes that 1 event the main topic that people are talking about ( and it has been the main topic since it happened. .

That the news media can manipulate what people think and talk about this much shows that the news media completely controls this country, rules this country,

I'm not saying don't report it but report it in context of how rare an occurrence it is( more lethal lightning strikes in the USA than this). and especially not give it the overwhelming coverage so that it becomes the main topic that politicians and everyone is talking about since it happened.

Less than a 100 killed in mass shootings per year 30,000 killed in car accidents per year millions die of heart disease or cancer per year 2.5 million home invasions per year( even this is not really likely to happen to you so you see that you will never encounter a mass shooter but ironic the democrats want make us defenseless against something likely to happen a home invasion because of their over reporting of an even that is never going to happen to you and those mass shootings even though they are a fluke are still caused by the media . the media puts this idea in the heads of any mass shooter and promises them world wide fame , and media immortality

Do you think that maybe we can get a copy that is in plain English rather than legalese mumbo-jumbo. This is not a law, but a political, tyrannical subterfuge of the American Constitution, Which is what give these whore the power they so cavalierly misuse.

‘If you’re the president, member of congress, govt. agent, etc, the only reason why anyone should listen to what you say, is because you exercise power via the Constitution’.

‘If the Constitution doesn’t count, you don’t have any legitimate power, and should be (forcibly) removed for trying to exercise power you don’t possess’.

I have read enough to know that it is an infringement of the right guaranteed by 2A of USC and is therefore unconstitutional in its entirety and should be opposed by every single American.

SEC. 122. FIREARMS TRANSFERS.
Includes section T.
“(t)(1) Beginning on the date that is 180 days after the date of enactment of this subsection and except as provided in paragraph (2), it shall be unlawful for any person other than a licensed dealer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed importer to complete the transfer of a firearm to any other person who is not licensed under this chapter, if such transfer occurs-
“(A) at a gun show or event, on the curtilage thereof; or
“(B) pursuant to an advertisement, posting, display or other listing on the Internet or in a publication by the transferor of his intent to transfer, or the transferee of his intent to acquire, the firearm.
“(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply if-
“(A) the transfer is made after a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer has first taken possession of the firearm for the purpose of complying with subsection (s), and upon taking possession of the firearm, the licensee-

.... or in other words, infringed. What part of ‘shall not be infringed’ are they not understanding. SCOTUS will love to give their blessing to this tyranny in a 5-4 bare but final majority forever sealing our subjugation to completely lawless thugs to do whatever they wish, such as define what “mentally ill” means. The Constitution has collapsed. The States should immediately move to demand the repeal of the 17th amendment, just for starters. This is a complete an utter outrage, and it is being force fed to us just like ACA (CommieCare) was, secret committee deals in back rooms or on yachts of all things. Fedzilla is completely out of control. The spineless crying boner HAS to go! And that’s just a start. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program. Sleep well America. Surely, at the end of this path, no one will come to take YOUR guns away, only your ‘crazy’ neighbor’s. “... and I said nothing ...” ... (Crickets).

Here is a summary version that came out earlier...

SEC. 123. PENALTIES.
Section 924 of title 18, United States Code, is amended-
(1) in subsection (a), by adding at the end the following:
“(8) Whoever makes or attempts to make a transfer of a firearm in violation of section 922(t) to a person not licensed under this chapter who is prohibited from receiving a firearm under subsection (g) or (n) of section 922 or State law, to a law enforcement officer, or to a person acting at the direction of, or with the approval of, a law enforcement officer authorized to investigate or prosecute violations of section 922(t), shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.”

Your property, their rules to so easily make you or I a criminal felon, removing our 2A rights forever. Utopia has arrived!

I believe it's an even bigger trespass on the 4th and 5th Amendments and a heavy slam on the 10th.

Quoting the author: Are the gun controllers winning? They have surely made gains.

The money quote right there.

Gun control, it’s not about guns, it’s about control.

A number of Americans seem so fearful of new restrictions on their gun rights they are stocking up on weapons and ammunition as though the revolution were at hand.

Ya think?

What a dreadfully terrible miscalculation the hard left is making. Brother against brother and all...

This isn’t about self defense or hunting. Don’t go there and play their game. The 2nd amendment is about the ability of the common citizen(s) to arm themslves with the same class of infantry weapon as FedGov™ to fight a tyrannical out of control FedGov™.

If Laws worked Chicago and DC would be Eden.

Everyone knows that. They want the guns out of our hands.

They have Sarah Brady wheel out poor Jim. They wheel out Gabby without shame. They dance in the blood of poor children with smiles on their faces. Knowing the real cause and not caring. They want our guns.

The one thing that will solve most of these incidents is get folks with mental issues in hospitals. Get them help.
The folks who legally should not have access now do.

When honest sane law abiding citizens cannot have guns because it is not “politically correct” to offend the mental issues, our nation is lost.

They have no shame. They want our guns.
