Read in context Romans 1:18 through 2:15
Sodom & Gomorrah were made examples for the Jews, and after the good news, the Christians. This was probably because (including Lot and his immediate family) there were less than 10 righteous persons.
America was blessed because they were for the most part a Godly people.
Now? - not so much.
Romans 1
"[24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: [25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."
Outside of those nations with a Judeo-Christian ethic, human history has been a nothing but a "if it feels good, do it" world for those with power.
