“You seem to be one unhappy critter. I still want my money back. Pay up government.”

The only thing I’m unhappy about is that “pay me” pretend conservatives like you incessantly whine about somehow not getting your money’s worth out of government.

When you do not have any expectation of government, it tends to make your outlook brighter, provided you can stay clear of the jackboots that you’d have placed on kids and grandkids so you can have your “promises” kept, with no thought whatsoever.

here’s my litmus test of whether you are an honest conservative or a lying socialist: Are you prepared to thank the taxpayer for the government checks you get?

Good luck with that. I’ll be happy when they stop stealing 18% of my income every year to pay off seniors for their votes. I’m stuck in this evil, unconstitutional Ponzi scheme for the next 20 years at least. and every nickel of it and more, borrowed from the Chinese btw, will go to pay my parents and grandparents for their votes.

In 1960 I offered to the Feds that if I never paid them any more Social Security they would never have to pay me one cent.

They turned me down so screw them i’ll take all I can get!

At least admit you are a shameless socialist then. It’s ok, you are in good company here on this thread, I just want someone to be honest enough to admit it - but that is one thing socialists don’t do well - honesty.

Currently, single beneficiaries making more than $85,000 a year and couples earning more than $170,000 pay higher premiums. Obama's plan would raise the premiums themselves and also freeze adjustments for inflation until 1 in 4 Medicare recipients were paying the higher charges. Right now, the higher monthly charges hit only about 1 in 20 Medicare recipients.

LMBO!!
So, he's actually squeezing doctors until they stop taking medicare patients.
That's great. Just great.

I dumped money down the government toilet my whole working life against my will, so just keep working hard and paying your taxes so I can recoup at least part of it. Old Lancey needs those SS checks to help with the boat payments and casino trips. If you don’t like it, tough crap. Ping me when the welfare, SSDI, food stamps, Head Start breakfasts and lunches, Section 8 Housing, and all the rest of the Democrat moocher handouts are eliminated. Until then, STFU and go play in the street.

Thank you. That is all.

I got back at them in 1978, i put all the Corp assets in a dummy company and never took another pay check, I took all compensation as rent and never paid in another cent into Social Security.

I hope I live to be 100 and still collect it!!!!

I’m all for doing whatever you can to minimize taxes of all sorts. Good for you.

But time marches on, and you want your checks now. Are you willing to admit that now that you’re on the receiving end of the checks that you’re a socialist?

Are you willing to admit you're fine with socialism as long as it benefits your Democrat moochers? Like I said, go after them FIRST.

THEN get back to me for my sacrifice. Until then, don't bother me, troll.

Still not good enough. You would also need the interest/investment income that you did not have the opportunity to make because the government confiscated it.

Also, back in 1965, there was plenty of insurance policies for elderly available, especially if they had their own insurance to begin with.

When Medicare was passed the insurance companies notified the old folks that they were no longer going to offer their policies and they would have to covert to Medicare.

My grandparents had White Cross/Shield offered by the Blue Cross Insurance Line. It was better than Medicare, and cost less too. The government has been screwing the citizens for years-all while claiming to help.

Don’t confuse SS with Medicare. That is what the article is about.

“Agree! Even hating the gubmit med takeover, some of it is needed, like means testing and voluntary participation for SS and Medicare.”

Thanks. Nice to see. I’m just sick of people complaining about government spending in general...but then getting their backs up if the goodies are about to be taken from them.

We won’t get ANYWHERE until we all learn to sacrifice, and that INCLUDES conservatives.

People who paid into Medicare and are now collecting are collecting several times what they put in. That’s simply not sustainable and we have to change the equation somehow.

What it was was a tax, deceptively marketed such that those who weren’t paying attention didn’t realize it was a tax.

You are kinda incorrect. The people who really got a good deal from the Medicare system are the old people who were forced onto it in 1965.

Still even they were screwed. My grandparents had White Cross Insurance sold to the elderly by Blue Cross/Blue Shield prior to Medicare passage. It was better than Medicare and cost less money. They had no choice, and neither do the boomers. If you are age 65, it’s the only game in town. Even if you are still working, the company often requires you to take Medicare and a supplement instead of the company policy.

We are only a few years into the boomer retirement, so you can’t blame them for the red ink. If you must have a scapegoat, Put the blame on Congress who lets people draw from the systems that haven’t paid into it, and keeps spending money hand over fist to buy votes.

Further more, even if they ended the program and returned all you paid in, it wouldn’t be fair. No one can go back in time and invest that money to have some hope of providing for themselves if they need to. Nor are there insurance products to purchase even if you could afford it.

During Reagan’s term, the deal was struck that retirement age for boomers was delayed and the amount paid in going forward was supposed to be enough extra to cover the big retirement boom. It was supposed to be held in trust, cover the red ink.

That trust fund is still “on the books” and bonds are being redeemed to cover the red ink. The trust fund is not yet depleted, so again that’s not on the boomers.

Those selfish boomers paid for their parents retirement and at the same time paid for their future retirement. After the great society program there wasn’t a heck of a lot of money left to provide for family let alone retirement.

By the way those maligned boomers readily agreed to keep paying into the system for their grandparents and parents sakes, and didn’t grumble about the raised taxes either. They just sucked it up and kept on working and trying to save some additional money to provide for their old age.

None of the boomers I know ever ever told the old people you greedly old geezers are bleeding us dry just stop it. We cared about our parents and grand parents - we didn’t want them to starve, do without medical care, or become dependent on welfare public or private. Of course, I only knew mid west boomers. Maybe you are thinking of the liberal west/east coast types??????

Unlike you, You who are giving an impression of greedy selfishness for fellow citizens who worked hard and paid into the system.

I don’t want my kids to suffer either. That’s why I bought a bunch of life insurance when me and my husband were young. When I die they’ll be approaching retirement and can invest their share and come out ahead.

You just play into the socialists hands when you make such statements. They want the generational warfare, and the class warfare. Divided we are easier to defeat.
