SACRAMENTO -- Some California lawmakers seeking to pressure the Boy Scouts of America to abandon its ban on openly gay members are taking a novel approach: They are threatening to strip the organization of its state tax exemption.
The proposal, which cleared a legislative hurdle Wednesday, once again puts California at the center of a national debate on gay rights, and it could put the state on a collision course with the IRS if passed. The legislation would revoke the exemption from state taxes for any nonprofit that excludes members by sexual orientation, gender identity or religious affiliation.
Supporters acknowledge that the bill is directed at the Boy Scouts.

State Sen. Stephen Knight (R-Palmdale) voted against the bill Wednesday.
"I certainly wouldn't want to do something that would take away Scout troops in communities," he said. "Scouting has done a lot for many people, including my boys."
He also asserted that the measure could affect other youth groups, including boys' and girls' sports leagues.
Lara said groups affiliated with churches would not be affected because they have a different tax status, and he said is willing to change his bill, SB 323, to address concerns about other groups.
Those in favor of the bill include Eric Andresen, a Northern California resident whose son Ryan's application to become an Eagle Scout was rejected after he told Scout officials in an email that he was gay.
"It bothers me so much that the state of California, by giving preferential tax treatment to the Boy Scouts, is actually condoning their discriminatory policies," Andresen told the lawmakers in a voice strained with anger.
The hearing, tightly controlled by committee Chairwoman Lois Wolk (D-Davis), lasted less than an hour, with few people allowed to testify at length.

If the homosexuals want in a scout group, let them start one of their own where they can do whatever they want to each other. This is proof that the homosexuals and lesbians will stop at nothing to get next to our children. How repulsive it is when elected legislators bend over backwards to help them. Of course many of these so-called legislators enjoy bending over.

Why is it gay Priests are bad and should not be tolerated because the “might” have unsupervised access to little boys, but gay Scout leaders with known unsupervised access to little boys is A-OK?
The same idiots pushing for this are the same ones who were foaming at the mouth about the Catholic Church. I honestly don’t understand the difference here - other than the “what I want is good and OK” mindset.
Allowing a homosexual to serve in a position of power in the BSA is like dangling cocaine in front of an addict.

It does NOT say you must ASSEMBLE with people you don’t care for! Pass this monstrosity and you can just as well pass a law saying that you MUST belong to XYZ association or the KKK association or the Muslim Brotherhood.
Gay men shouldn’t be allowed to camp out with young boys anymore than hetero men shouldn’t be allowed to camp out with young girls. I wouldn’t send my son to scouts with gay men anymore than I would send my daughters out to camp with straight men. I can’t even believe this is an argument.

Wake up and realize that homosexuals, lesbians, transgendered types, etc. are a minority and as such should be pedestalized and respected.
You cant think there’s anything wrong with a man shoving his pee-pee up another man’s poo-poo. It is just another way of love making. I understand the central socialist government under special orders from our president has ordered a crash program that would re-plumb one homosexual marriage partner.
The desired result being to enable homosexuals to conceive and bear children. I know this sounds messy but the goal is to create a second a—hole.
Point of order, Mr. Chairman. Alinsky is not smiling. There is no smiling in hell. Wait—unless Alinsky somehow repented and converted on the way out, in which case, he's not smiling. . . Well hold on, he would be smiling, but only because he's enjoying the Beatific Vision, or because he's in Purgatory, knowing he will eventually enjoy it. . . and meanwhile he's actually praying for our side in that case. This is hard.

If those perverts want to cut the BSA off, they have crossed the line. I will be cutting off all CA businesses (including those few Hollywood products that are not already on my boycott list) and charities except BSA if America’s enemies cut off BSA. Perhaps a significant fraction of the conservative 47% of the country will join me. Let’s see who gets hurt more.
