People allergic to MSG exhibit severe symptoms that mimic a heart attack. I know this, first hand.

It passes in a couple of hours, depends on how much I eat. A handful of Doritos? No sweat. However, I ran into a restaurant that spiked their drinks with it not too long ago...man, I thought I was going drop dead.

No reason for you not to eat it, though. Enjoy!!

In America he’d be being ripped on for paying workers so low, no healthcare for them, not keeping every single rule and regulation, some would say his products are not healthy, it would be a totally adversarial relationship at every step. Then Obama would come by and tell him he didn’t build that business up. And that he’s not paying his fair share. And probably wouldn’t get permission to expand the plant.

> Most humans’ first encounter with umami is breast milk....

Do you have a source that you could cite that shows that human breast milk contains MSG? Thanks.

MSG causes me to have rapid irregular heartbeats, arrythmias. My cardiologist advised me to avoid MSG at all costs because it could cause me to have a stroke. If I do have a stroke, for any reason, I have asked to Lord to take me because I don't want to live like that.

Death by MSG

For years, we have believed that a number of people have died from ingestion of processed free glutamic acid (MSG).  In fact, we have received four reports of MSG-induced death, and a number of reports of near death episodes.

Years ago, the Truth in Labeling Campaign became aware of the fact that dogs, which are eaten in some parts of the Philippines, were sometimes killed by feeding them buns laced with vetsin (monosodium glutamate).

Following is an article that clearly establishes that ingestion of MSG can lead to death in humans.

gaaaahhhhhh...

And... My Favorite

Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to
leave because I'd go berserk?? Well...
You left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see
I've gone completely out of my mind.. And..

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa
To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be
happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!

You thought it was a joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said
that loosing you would make me flip my lid.. RIGHT???
I know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed you laughed and
laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad... And..

They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa,
They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa.
To the happy home. With trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket
weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're
coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!

I cooked your food, I cleaned your house, and this is how you pay me back
for all my kind unselfish loving deeds.. Huh??
Well you just wait, they'll find you yet and when they do they'll put you
in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!!! And...

MSG causes...Headache
Flushing
Sweating
Facial pressure or tightness
Numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas
Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations)
Chest pain
Nausea
Weakness
...other then that, it’s great stuff!

MSG? He’d have been sued into the stone age by now if this was in the US.

“umami” describes a taste, but the concern is with the chemical properties and effects of MSG on humans, which others have cited as harmful.

“...the term umami was recognized as the scientific term to describe the taste of glutamates and nucleotides at the first Umami International Symposium in Hawaii.[7] Umami represents the taste of the amino acid L-glutamate and 5’-ribonucleotides such as guanosine monophosphate (GMP) and inosine monophosphate (IMP).[8]”

I´ve lived in apartments, I´ve lived in a home
I travelled in trailers when I used to roam
But now in these places you won´t have me dead
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

I do what I want to, no worries, no care
If anyone bugs me I climb up my stairs
Way up to a level where I feel no threat
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

If you´re trying something, I couldn´t care less
I don´t rush for busses and trains are a mess
There´s no one to care for, I don´t need a bed
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

I like how I´m living, I´m nobody´s slave
My head´s above water, so don´t make a wave
There are no doors to lock and no dogs to be fed
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

Now why should I move when the neighborhood´s right?
No taxes to pay and no landlord to fight
Now I call this living, what´s more, like I said
´cause Im happy I live in a split-level head

Now you keep your ulcers, your ills, and what, too
You sure couldn´t have them and live like I do
You think I hace problems, but you do instead
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

I live with two people, I like both of them
He likes both of me and I like both of him
They´re my alter-ego and to them I´m wed
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

There´s no simple status in my neighborhood
And that kind of thinking, I think it´s so good
And I don´t take the lead when I like to be led
´Cause I´m happy I live in a split-level head

He’s selling neurotoxic MSG, which makes people crave the next bite. I like his success story but he’s selling poison.

From the referenced article

http://intl.jacn.org/content/19/4/434.short

Results: In human milk glutamic acid plus glutamine and taurine were the prevalent amino acids, accounting for around 50% total FAA. In the analysed formulas the total FAA fraction was 10% or even less than in human milk, mostly represented by taurine, while methionine was high in soy formula. The sum of glutamic acid and glutamine in all the formulas was much lower than in human milk.

Conclusions: Breastfed infants are supplied with FAA, mainly glutamic acid and glutamine, compared to formula-fed counterparts. The different FAA intake might be the origin of some functional differences at the enteral level between breast- and formula-fed infants.

I haven’t died from it; I’ve wished to die a few times. MSG causes extreme migraines in me so I try my best or avoid it by eating mostly at home and perusing every ingredient (MSG hides under many euphemisms, even under the ingredient “spice.” ) and only eating out where I have successfully eaten before, or choosing very carefully from the menu. And asking the waiter and manager.

MSG doesn’t kill you outright, not even make you puke all night. It just makes you like the taste of your food, then cumulatively negatively affect your brain. Enough of it in your life and you end your days with alzheimers, Parkinson’s, Lou gehrig’s, and other brain inflictions. It’s a neurotoxin, so it’s insidious. And most people not react to it or even know they are ingesting it.

For instance, EVERY* soup or broth sold in any store contains it. Every single one, including the ones that say NO MSG on the front. They just call it one of its many other names, including “spices.”

* there is one organic vegetable broth at whole foods that doesn’t contain it. However, it tastes like colored water. You could throw some old veggies from your fridge into a pot of water and create a better vegetable broth in 20 minutes.

Thanks. An excerpt from your post: “Breastfed infants are supplied with FAA, mainly glutamic acid and glutamine,...”

But does it say that monosodium glutamate (MSG) have the same chemical properties and effects on humans as do glutamic acid and glutamine?
