Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Wednesday he has introduced a bill to repeal mandatory minimum sentencing for drug use and told the story of two young menBarack Obama and George W. Bushwho were said to use drugs but did not go to jail.
In this story, both young men were extraordinarily lucky. Both young men were not caught using illegal drugs, and they werent imprisoned. Instead, they went on to become presidents of the United States. Barack Obama and George Bush were lucky, Paul said in a speech at Howard University, a historically black college in Washington, DC.
The law could have put both of them away for their entire young adulthood. Neither one of them would have been employable, much less president, the senator added.
Former President Bush has denied allegations that he ever used drugs, while President Obama has admitted to drug use in his memoir, Dreams of My Father.

I too have issue with min mans in some cases
So what? Politicians usually give the same speech often, in an effort to ensure the message gets broadly heard. And besides, Pauls point was dead on balls accurate.
If W or Hussein had ever been unlucky enough to get caught, they would have never made it to the White House.
Dope busts are not for the power connected Ivy kiddies,,be they CIA scions, or connected communist moles.
And then you have Clinton the doper, and the dope smuggler. (Mena airport in Arkansas)
And poppy Bush a blue blood CIA leftist who was placed by GOPe to undermine Reagan.
It’s all the way back to Reagan since we had a president that was downright respectable, decent, and put America first.
The Government is on another crack down on prescription pain killers. (They compete against the cartels, and the Democrats don’t like that.) I don’t think Mr. Paul is going to get too far with his bill. We will see.
I book I read a while back that had poppy Bush teamed up with Bill Clinton in that 1980’s cocaine smuggling operation out of Mena Airport. A very interesting read. Your last sentence says it all. I sure miss him.
This kind of legislation should be put on the back burner for a while IMO. All good things all in good time.
First good thing about the "War on Drugs" I've heard in a long time.
As I recall, what he said about it was, "When I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible" - not a denial.
