President Obama snubs Margaret Thatcher funeral
The Sun ^

Posted on 04/16/2013 1:59:30 AM PDT by UKrepublican

US President Barack Obama will snub Lady Thatcher’s funeral by failing to send a single senior member of his administration, The Sun can reveal.

Ageing former Secretaries of State James Baker, 82, and George Shultz, 92, will lead the US delegation, the White House will announce today.

The slight comes as German leader Angela Merkel also declines the official invite. She will send her foreign minister instead.

But Downing Street is most angered by rejections from Obama, First Lady Michelle and Vice-President Joe Biden.

And none of the four surviving ex-US leaders — Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr, Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr — is coming either.

The response contrasts with glowing US tributes on the day Lady Thatcher died.

A No 10 source said last night: “We are a little surprised by the White House’s reaction as we were expecting a high-profile attendance.”

The snub came ahead of last night’s Boston marathon bomb outrage.

Once again, the Obamas prove that they have no class whatsoever.

Move to Mississippi... I see what you describe as being dead, as being alive and well... every day of my life. People here will die defending what the progs seek to destroy. We will not waiver from Liberty’s call. America is not dead... but parts of the body are. Through JESUS they can be brought to life again.

It would be an insult to Mrs. Thatcher’s memory for Maobama to show up. I doubt she would have wanted him to attend.

Bush would have to be given actual status of an ambassador/consular or he would risk being given the Pinochet treatment by the once honest British courts. Remember, they agreed to extradite him on the basis of charges pursued by a Spanish judge, who somehow determined that he had jurisdiction over alleged crimes in Chile. it was a travesty of the rule of law and confirmed, for me, that Britain’s courts had become politicized.

I’m in agreement with the consensus the most respectful thing to do is to keep obama away.

But what I find bothersome is Bush Sr is not attending. With Bush Sr being Reagan’s second when Reagan and Thatcher worked so well together, well to me Bush Sr attending would represent the Reagan era of America paying respects.

On the other hand with RINO’ism becoming more and more popular, I’m certain the Bush’s do not want to piss off the MSM. Not going is one less black mark the MSM could use against them when Jeb runs.

W could borrow a Gulfstream 650 from any of his friends ( i.e. T Boone Pickens) in a heartbeat for the flight, and it's more luxurious than sitting at home, recuperating.

If, however, his back is the cause, then he should have publicly stated that he wanted to attend, and that's the only reason that he's not going..because of his back.

But that would have made Carter and Clinton look bad...

I am glad he is not gong, he has no business there, he wouldn’t be appreciative of her and he hates everything she stood for

If George W is not going, it because he doesn’t want to.
I think his surgery was in January in Fl,Probably back tp
Dallas and he was just in New York for his grandbaby.

If Dick Cheney is going, thats enough for me. He was my
favorite part of that team anyway. He would never whine
about his heart transplant, etc.

Is Cheney going? Do you have a link? That’s great news ( and only makes W’s decision to skip it look even worse)

Michele Bachmann is attending. I can’t think of a better representative from the US House.

Glad to hear that, as well as Cheney attending. Can understand that Bush 43 just had back surgery.

Would love for Sarah Palin to be there. Kinda glad Zippy isn't.

They hated Jesus Christ too.

I’m not surprised the Bush’s are not going to be there. The rest are all socialist progressives. They would only stain the legacy of this great lady.

PS: She had more class and brass than everyone mentioned in this article.

statistic=statists

Allow me to coin a new word: statanist.
It refers to the true allegiance of our current "leaders."
