Police have shut down a short stretch of Route 138...

The section of Route 139 between Randolph Street and Edward Street was closed down.

I'm confused.

Me, too-—The only Canton I know of is in TX.

Does anyone have any idea where this Canton is?

Here in Massachusetts you can travel North on a South route. It’s hard to explain. Canton southwest of Boston.
