Harry Reid: We don’t have the Right to Arm ourselves Against the Government

Well, YOU don't because you're the problem. Be careful with the use of your pronouns, though, because people out here in have-a-job land might assume you're including them in that "we".

The wish to arm ourselves against the police who keep our streets safe is not a reason to oppose an assault weapons ban. I believe that as Americans, we have a right to arm ourselves against criminals, but we don’t need the ability to arm ourselves against the army or the police. The United States military is not out to get us. Federal law enforcement, local police departments are not out to get us. These conspiracy theories are dangerous and they should be put to rest.”

Harry Reid, you are a Tyrant who lies thru his teeth. OUR ATF/Injustice Department intentionally put in the hands of Drug Cartel of Mexico Automatic Weapons that killed hundreds of Mexican Nationals and TWO US Border officers.

is sending ATF agents to states to acquire the CCW lists from the databases that the states maintain.

Meaningful resistance is -- handing the ATF guy a list which actually contains registered Democrats

Harry Reid "forgot" to mention the 2nd Amendment in conjunction with his constitutionally-indefensible gun bill. One of Reid's problems with bringing 2A into the discussion is probably that he cannot afford for the Constitution's amendment process, Article V, to be put into the limelight to repeal 2A. This is because once Constitution-ignorant voters find out from Article V that only the states, not the federal government, have the power to ratify proposed amendments to the Constitution, then voters will also figure out that the states have absolute control over the federal government via the Constition, not vice-versa as many citizens evidently think. If such knowledge became widespread it would throw a major monkey wrench into the Progressive Movement agenda to unconconstitutonally centralize government power in DC.

Also, regarding Reid brushing off people's concern for tyranny, he ignores that citizen protection against tyranny by bearing arms is one of the main reasons that the Founding States made 2A. Justice Joseph Story put it this way about 2A.

§ 1890. The importance of this article will scarcely be doubted by any persons, who have duly reflected upon the subject. The militia is the natural defence of a free country against sudden foreign invasions, domestic insurrections, and domestic usurpations of power by rulers. It is against sound policy for a free people to keep up large military establishments and standing armies in time of peace, both from the enormous expenses, with which they are attended, and the facile means, which they afford to ambitious and unprincipled rulers, to subvert the government, or trample upon the rights of the people. The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers (emphases added); and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them. And yet, though this truth would seem so clear, and the importance of a well regulated militia would seem so undeniable, it cannot be disguised, that among the American people there is a growing indifference to any system of militia discipline, and a strong disposition, from a sense of its burthens, to be rid of all regulations. How it is practicable to keep the people duly armed without some organization, it is difficult to see. There is certainly no small danger, that indifference may lead to disgust, and disgust to contempt; and thus gradually undermine all the protection intended by this clause of our national bill of rights. --Joseph Story, Amendment II, Commentaries on the Constitution 3 Amendment II: Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 3:§§ 1890--91

Harry, Harry, Harry — you obviously slept through the Hubert Humphrey era. Here’s a little refresher for ya:
“Certainly, one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, and one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible.”
—Humphrey, Hubert, “Know Your Lawmakers,” Guns, February 1960, p.4.
My, my — how these Demoncraps have changed!!!

Harry, 238 years ago tomorrow night, several dozens of my kin were fixing to do just that. And God Bless them that they did.

Blow it out your arse, you sorry excuse for a Senator.

Did Harry actually read the Constitution or the federalist papers?
I dare not ask if he may have even read the anti-federalist papers.

Good questions; and given today's political climate (and rampant statism) I would actually rather people be more familiar of the Anti-federalist papers than the Federalist papers.
