It’s metastasized. Now you can find clusters of collectivism in Chicago, Madison, Berkeley, Austin, Boulder, Boston, New York, Salt Lake City, Seattle...
But also remember Jan Sobieski...actually a Pole, who literally saved Europe from becoming Islamic in the late 1600s, exactly the same time that Issac Newton was putting the final touches on what would be called Calculus - which was the underpinning needed to launch the Industrial Revolution.
Vienna just happens to be in a really, really, odd spot in Europe. Just after WW2, the Soviets OWNED Austria, but pulled out for no apparent reason...really weird.
