“Consider how the country would respond to 5 or 10 low level attacks. The terrorists win.”

I have a small but significant hope that enough American people would rise up, and that the terrorists would not win. Flight 93 on 9/11 did not happen that long ago, and the passengers were not even armed. I think we might still have enough patriots.

Agreed, eventually ‘we’ would rise up.
BUT
For the couple of weeks those idiots had the area in a panic.
Police were just going out on the Interstate and stopping anything that resembled what the ‘suspect’ vehicle was.
The perps supposed to be ‘two White Supremists, ‘the vehicle supposedly a white van - when searching, they (the cops) were stopping any van, cargo, step van, box truck...it ended up being an old beat up sedan with NJ tags and the clowns were black.
I went about my business, just didn’t like getting caught up in the ‘panic zone(s)’ as my ‘philosophy’ is when it is time to go, you are going BUT no sense ‘pushing’ it.

And with the ‘mindset’ of people, how many would have been chastising someone that acted on those flights or any such circumstance, believing the old saw ‘just follow instructions and you won’t get hurt’?
We are turning into a Nation of sheep .
As sort of an ‘example’, look at the sale of flags right after 9/11, they couldn’t keep them in stock - especially the ones you flew from your vehicle.... wasn’t long before they turned back into a ‘specialty item’ that you had to search for to get one.
